You make us a reproach to our neighbors, A scoffing and a derision to those who are around us.
Umetufanya kuwa mithali kwa mataifa, Sababu ya kutikisa kichwa kwa watu wa nchi.
You make us a byword among the nations, A shaking of the head among the peoples.
Mchana kutwa fedheha yangu i mbele yangu, Na haya ya uso wangu imenifunika,
All day long my dishonor is before me, And shame covers my face,
Kwa sauti ya mwenye kulaumu na kukufuru, Kwa sababu ya adui na mjilipiza kisasi.
At the taunt of one who reproaches and verbally abuses, Because of the enemy and the avenger.
Haya yote yametupata, bali hatukukusahau, Wala hatukulihalifu agano lako.

Yes, for your sake we are killed all day long. We are regarded as sheep for the slaughter.
Amka, Bwana, mbona umelala? Ondoka, usitutupe kabisa.
Wake up! Why do you sleep, Lord? Arise! Don't reject us forever.
Mbona unatuficha uso wako, Na kusahau kuonewa na kudhulumiwa kwetu?
Why do you hide your face, And forget our affliction and our oppression?
Maana nafsi yetu imeinama mavumbini, Tumbo letu limegandamana na nchi.
For our soul is bowed down to the dust. Our body cleaves to the earth.
Uondoke, uwe msaada wetu, Utukomboe kwa ajili ya fadhili zako.
