1
Waovu hukimbia wasipofuatiwa na mtu; Bali wenye haki ni wajasiri kama simba.
The wicked flee when no one pursues; But the righteous are as bold as a lion.
2
Kwa sababu ya maasi ya nchi wakuu wake huwa wengi; Bali kwa wenye ufahamu na maarifa hali ya nchi hudumishwa
In rebellion, a land has many rulers, But order is maintained by a man of understanding and knowledge.
3
Mtu mhitaji awaoneaye maskini, Ni kama mvua ya dhoruba isiyosaza chakula.
A needy man who oppresses the poor Is like a driving rain which leaves no crops.

Wao waiachao sheria huwasifu waovu; Bali wao waishikao hushindana nao.
Those who forsake the law praise the wicked; But those who keep the law contend with them.
5
Watu wabaya hawaelewi na hukumu; Bali wamtafutao Bwana huelewa na yote.
Evil men don't understand justice; But those who seek Yahweh understand it fully.

Afadhali maskini aendaye katika unyofu wake, Kuliko mpotofu wa njia angawa ni tajiri.
Better is the poor who walks in his integrity, Than he who is perverse in his ways, and he is rich.
7
Yeye aishikaye sheria ni mwana mwenye hekima; Bali aliye rafiki wa walafi humwaibisha babaye.
Whoever keeps the law is a wise son; But he who is a companion of gluttons shames his father.

Yeye azidishaye mali yake kwa riba na faida, Humkusanyia mtu awahurumiaye maskini.
He who increases his wealth by excessive interest Gathers it for one who has pity on the poor.

Yeye aligeuzaye sikio lake asiisikie sheria, Hata sala yake ni chukizo.
He who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination.
10
Kila mtu awapotezaye wenye haki katika njia mbaya, Ataanguka katika rima lake mwenyewe; Bali wakamilifu watarithi mema.
Whoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way, He will fall into his own trap; But the blameless will inherit good.

Mtu tajiri ana hekima machoni pake mwenyewe; Bali maskini mwenye ufahamu humchunguza sana.
The rich man is wise in his own eyes; But the poor who has understanding sees through him.

Wenye haki washindapo, uko utukufu mwingi; Bali waovu waondokapo, watu hujificha.
When the righteous triumph, there is great glory; But when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.
13
Afichaye dhambi zake hatafanikiwa; Bali yeye aziungamaye na kuziacha atapata rehema.
He who conceals his sins doesn't prosper, But whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
14
Mwanadamu mwenye kicho yu heri sikuzote; Bali mshupavu wa moyo ataangukia madhara.
Blessed is the man who always fears; But one who hardens his heart falls into trouble.
15
Kama simba angurumaye, na dubu mwenye njaa; Ndivyo alivyo mtu mbaya awatawalaye maskini.
As a roaring lion or a charging bear, So is a wicked ruler over helpless people.
16
Mkuu aliyepungukiwa na akili huwaonea watu sana; Bali achukiaye kutamani ataongeza siku zake.
A tyrannical ruler lacks judgment. One who hates ill-gotten gain will have long days.
17
Aliyelemewa na damu ya mtu Atalikimbilia shimo; wala mtu asimzuie.
A man who is tormented by life blood will be a fugitive until death; No one will support him.
18
Aendaye kwa unyofu ataokolewa; Bali mkaidi wa njia zake ataanguka mara.
Whoever walks blamelessly is kept safe; But one with perverse ways will fall suddenly.
19
Alimaye shamba lake atakuwa na chakula tele; Bali afuataye mambo ya upuzi atapata umaskini wa kumtosha.
One who works his land will have an abundance of food; But one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.
20
Mtu mwaminifu atakuwa na baraka tele; Lakini afanyaye haraka kuwa tajiri hakosi ataadhibiwa.
A faithful man is rich with blessings; But one who is eager to be rich will not go unpunished.
21
Kupendelea watu si kwema; Wala mtu kuasi kwa ajili ya kipande cha mkate.
To show partiality is not good; Yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread.
22
Mwenye husuda afanya haraka kuwa tajiri; Wala haufikiri uhitaji utakaomjilia.
A stingy man hurries after riches, And doesn't know that poverty waits for him.
23
Amkemeaye mwenzake hatimaye atapata kibali; Zaidi ya mtu ajipendekezaye kwa ulimi wake.
One who rebukes a man will afterward find more favor Than one who flatters with the tongue.
24
Aibaye mali ya babaye au mamaye, na kusema, Si kosa; Mwana huyo ni rafiki wa mtu mharibifu.
Whoever robs his father or his mother, and says, "It's not wrong." He is a partner with a destroyer.

Mwenye nafsi ya kutamani huchochea fitina; Bali amtumainiye Bwana atawandishwa.
One who is greedy stirs up strife; But one who trusts in Yahweh will prosper.
26
Mwenye kujitumainia moyo wake ni mjinga; Bali yeye aendaye kwa busara ataokolewa.
One who trusts in himself is a fool; But one who walks in wisdom, he is kept safe.
27
Mwenye kuwagawia maskini hatahitaji kitu; Bali afichaye macho yake atakuwa na laana nyingi.
One who gives to the poor has no lack; But one who closes his eyes will have many curses.
28
Wasio haki wainukapo, wanadamu hujificha; Bali waangamiapo, wenye haki huongezeka.
When the wicked rise, men hide themselves; But when they perish, the righteous thrive.
