Yehoshafati akalala na babaze, akazikwa pamoja na babaze katika mji wa Daudi; akatawala Yehoramu mwanawe mahali pake.
And Jehoshaphat rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the City of David. And his son Jehoram reigned in his place.

Naye alikuwa na ndugu, wana wa Yehoshafati, Azaria, na Yehieli, na Zekaria, na Azaria, na Mikaeli, na Shefatia; hao wote walikuwa wana wa Yehoshafati mfalme wa Israeli.
Jehoram’s brothers, the sons of Jehoshaphat, were Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariah, Michael, and Shephatiah; these were all sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.

Baba yao akawapa zawadi kubwa, za fedha, na za dhahabu, na za tunu, pamoja na miji yenye maboma katika Yuda; lakini ufalme akampa Yehoramu, kwa sababu alikuwa mzaliwa wa kwanza.
Their father had given them many gifts of silver and gold and precious things, as well as the fortified cities in Judah; but he gave the kingdom to Jehoram because he was the firstborn.

Basi Yehoramu alipoinuliwa juu ya ufalme wa babaye, na kujitia nguvu, akawaua nduguze wote kwa upanga, na baadhi ya wakuu wa Israeli pia.
When Jehoram had established himself over his father’s kingdom, he strengthened himself by putting to the sword all his brothers along with some of the princes of Israel.

Yehoramu alikuwa na umri wa miaka thelathini na miwili alipoanza kutawala, akatawala miaka minane huko Yerusalemu.
Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years.

Akaiendea njia ya wafalme wa Israeli, kama walivyofanya nyumba ya Ahabu; kwa kuwa alikuwa amemwoa binti Ahabu; akafanya maovu machoni pa Bwana.
And Jehoram walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Ahab had done. For he married a daughter of Ahab and did evil in the sight of the LORD.

Walakini Bwana hakupenda kuiharibu nyumba ya Daudi, kwa sababu ya agano alilolifanya na Daudi, na kama alivyomwahidi kuwa atampa taa, yeye na wazao wake siku zote.
Yet the LORD was unwilling to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant He had made with David, and since He had promised to maintain a lamp for David and his descendants forever.

Zamani zake Edomu wakaasi chini ya mkono wa Yuda, wakajifanyia mfalme.
In the days of Jehoram, Edom rebelled against the hand of Judah and appointed their own king.

Ndipo akavuka Yehoramu na maakida wake, na magari yake yote pamoja naye; akaondoka usiku, akawapiga Waedomi waliomzunguka yeye na hao maakida wa magari.
So Jehoram crossed into Edom with his officers and all his chariots. When the Edomites surrounded him and his chariot commanders, he rose up and attacked by night.

Hivyo Edomu wakaasi chini ya mkono wa Yuda, hata leo; wakaasi na Libna zamani zizo hizo chini ya mkono wake: kwa sababu alikuwa amemwacha Bwana, Mungu wa baba zake.
So to this day Edom has been in rebellion against the hand of Judah. Likewise, Libnah rebelled against his hand at the same time, because Jehoram had forsaken the LORD, the God of his fathers.

Tena ndiye aliyefanya mahali pa juu milimani pa Yuda, na kuwaendesha katika uasherati wenyeji wa Yerusalemu, na kuwakosesha Yuda.
Jehoram had also built high places on the hills of Judah; he had caused the people of Jerusalem to prostitute themselves and had led Judah astray.

Likamjia andiko kutoka kwa Eliya nabii, kusema, Bwana, Mungu wa Daudi baba yako, asema hivi, Kwa sababu hukuziendea njia za Yehoshafati baba yako, wala njia za Asa mfalme wa Yuda;
Then a letter came to Jehoram from Elijah the prophet, which stated: “This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: ‘You have not walked in the ways of your father Jehoshaphat or of Asa king of Judah,

lakini umeiendea njia ya wafalme wa Israeli, ukawaendesha katika uasherati Yuda na wenyeji wa Yerusalemu, kama walivyofanya nyumba ya Ahabu; tena umewaua ndugu zako wa nyumba ya baba yako, waliokuwa wema kuliko wewe;
but you have walked in the ways of the kings of Israel and have caused Judah and the people of Jerusalem to prostitute themselves, just as the house of Ahab prostituted itself. You have also killed your brothers, your father’s family, who were better than you.

tazama, Bwana atawapiga pigo kubwa watu wako, na watoto wako, na wake zako, na mali yako yote;
So behold, the LORD is about to strike your people, your sons, your wives, and all your possessions with a serious blow.

nawe utakuwa na ugonjwa mkuu kwa maradhi ya matumbo, yatakapotokea matumbo yako kwa sababu ya ugonjwa huo siku kwa siku.
And day after day you yourself will suffer from a severe illness, a disease of your bowels, until it causes your bowels to come out.’”

Bwana akawaamsha roho Wafilisti, na Waarabu waliowaelekea Wakushi juu ya Yehoramu,
Then the LORD stirred against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines and Arabs who lived near the Cushites.

nao wakakwea juu ya nchi ya Yuda, wakaipenya, wakaichukua mali yote iliyoonekama nyumbani mwa mfalme, na wanawe pia, na wakeze; asisaziwe mwana hata mmoja, ila Ahazia, aliyekuwa mdogo miongoni mwa wanawe.
So they went to war against Judah, invaded it, and carried off all the possessions found in the king’s palace, along with his sons and wives; not a son was left to him except Jehoahaz, his youngest.

Na baada ya hayo yote Bwana akampiga matumbo kwa ugonjwa usioponyeka.
After all this, the LORD afflicted Jehoram with an incurable disease of the bowels.

Ikawa baada ya siku, ikiisha miaka miwili, matumbo yake yakatokea kwa sababu ya ugonjwa wake, akafa akiugua vibaya. Wala watu wake hawakumfukizia mafukizo kama ya baba zake.
This continued day after day until two full years had passed. Finally, his intestines came out because of his disease, and he died in severe pain. And his people did not make a fire in his honor as they had done for his fathers.

Alikuwa na umri wa miaka thelathini na miwili alipoanza kutawala, akatawala huko Yerusalemu miaka minane; akafariki bila kutamaniwa; wakamzika mjini mwa Daudi, ila si katika makaburi ya wafalme.
Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. He died, to no one’s regret, and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
