Hata Rehoboamu alipofika Yerusalemu, akakusanya nyumba ya Yuda na Benyamini, watu wateule mia na themanini elfu waliokuwa hodari, watu wa vita, ili wapigane juu ya Israeli, ili wamrudishie Rehoboamu huo ufalme.
When Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin, one hundred eighty thousand chosen men, who were warriors, to fight against Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.

But the word of Yahweh came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
Mwambie Rehoboamu mwana wa Sulemani, mfalme wa Yuda, uwaambie na Israeli wote waliomo Yuda na Benyamini, ukisema,
Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,
Bwana asema hivi, Hamtapanda wala kupigana na ndugu zenu; rudini kila mtu nyumbani kwake; kwa kuwa jambo hili limetoka kwangu. Basi, wakayasikiliza maneno ya Bwana, wakarudi katika kumwendea Yeroboamu.
Thus says Yahweh, You shall not go up, nor fight against your brothers: return every man to his house; for this thing is of me. So they listened to the words of Yahweh, and returned from going against Jeroboam.
Naye Rehoboamu akakaa Yerusalemu, akajenga miji yenye ngome katika Yuda.
Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem, and built cities for defense in Judah.
Akajenga na Bethlehemu, na Etamu, na Tekoa,
He built Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
na Bethsuri, na Soko, na Adulamu,
Beth Zur, and Soco, and Adullam,
na Gathi, na Maresha, na Zifu,
and Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,
na Adoraimu, na Lakishi, na Azeka,
and Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
na Sora, na Aiyaloni, na Hebroni, iliyoko katika Yuda na Benyamini, miji yenye maboma.
and Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin, fortified cities.
Akazifanya imara hizo ngome, akaweka majemadari humo, na akiba ya vyakula, na mafuta, na mvinyo.
He fortified the strongholds, and put captains in them, and stores of food, and oil and wine.
Na ndani ya miji yote mmoja mmoja aliweka ngao na mikuki, akaifanya kuwa na nguvu nyingi mno. Yuda na Benyamini ikawa milki yake.
In every city [he put] shields and spears, and made them exceeding strong. Judah and Benjamin belonged to him.
Wakamwendea makuhani na Walawi waliokuwa katika Israeli yote, kutoka mpaka wao wote.
The priests and the Levites who were in all Israel resorted to him out of all their border.
Kwani Walawi wakaacha malisho yao, na milki yao, wakaja Yuda na Yerusalemu; kwa sababu Yeroboamu na wanawe waliwatupa, ili wasimfanyie Bwana ukuhani;
For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons cast them off, that they should not execute the priest's office to Yahweh;
naye akajiwekea makuhani wa mahali pa juu, na wa wale majini, na wa zile ndama alizozifanya.
and he appointed him priests for the high places, and for the male goats, and for the calves which he had made.
Na kutoka katika kabila zote za Israeli, wakaandamwa na hao waliojikaza nia kumtafuta Bwana, Mungu wa Israeli, wakaja Yerusalemu, ili wamtolee dhabihu Bwana, Mungu wa baba zao.
After them, out of all the tribes of Israel, such as set their hearts to seek Yahweh, the God of Israel, came to Jerusalem to sacrifice to Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
Hivyo wakaufanya imara kwa miaka mitatu ufalme wa Yuda, na kumtia nguvu Rehoboamu mwana wa Sulemani; kwa maana muda wa miaka mitatu wakaiendea njia ya Daudi na Sulemani.
So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years; for they walked three years in the way of David and Solomon.
Rehoboamu akaoa mke, Mahalathi binti Yerimothi mwana wa Daudi, na wa Abihaili binti Eliabu, mwana wa Yese;
Rehoboam took him a wife, Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David, [and of] Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;
akamzalia wana, Yeushi, na Shemaria, na Zahamu.
and she bore him sons: Jeush, and Shemariah, and Zaham.
Kisha baada yake akamwoa Maaka, binti Absalomu; na yeye akamzalia Abiya, na Atai, na Ziza, na Shelomithi.
After her he took Maacah the daughter of Absalom; and she bore him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
Rehoboamu akampenda Maaka binti Absalomu kuliko wakeze wote na masuria yake; (maana alioa wake kumi na wanane, na masuria sitini, akazaa wana ishirini na wanane na binti sitini).
Rehoboam loved Maacah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines: (for he took eighteen wives, and sixty concubines, and became the father of twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.)
Rehoboamu akamsimamisha Abiya, mwana wa Maaka, kuwa mkuu, mtawala kati ya nduguze, kwa kuwa aliazimia kumtawaza awe mfalme.
Rehoboam appointed Abijah the son of Maacah to be chief, [even] the prince among his brothers; for [he was minded] to make him king.
Akafanya kwa akili, akawatawanya wanawe wote kati ya nchi zote za Yuda na Benyamini, katika kila mji wenye boma; akawapa vyakula tele. Akawatafutia wake wengi. </p>
He dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his sons throughout all the lands of Judah and Benjamin, to every fortified city: and he gave them food in abundance. He sought [for them] many wives.
