Ole wa taji ya kiburi ya walevi wa Efraimu, na ua la uzuri wa fahari yake linalonyauka, lililo kichwani mwa bonde linalositawi, la hao walioshindwa na divai!
Woe to the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley of those who are overcome with wine!
Tazama, Bwana ana mmoja aliye hodari, mwenye nguvu; kama dhoruba ya mvua ya mawe, tufani iharibuyo, kama dhoruba ya maji mengi yafurikayo, ndivyo atakavyotupa chini kwa mkono.
Behold, the Lord has a mighty and strong one; as a tempest of hail, a destroying storm, as a tempest of mighty waters overflowing, will he cast down to the earth with the hand.
Taji ya kiburi ya walevi wa Efraimu itakanyagwa kwa miguu;
The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim shall be trodden under foot:
na ua la uzuri wa fahari yake linalonyauka, lililo kichwani mwa bonde linalositawi, litakuwa kama tini iliyotangulia kuiva kabla ya wakati wa hari, ambayo, aionapo yeye aiangaliaye, huila mara anapoishika mkononi mwake.
and the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be as the first-ripe fig before the summer; which when he who looks on it sees, while it is yet in his hand he eats it up.
Katika siku ile Bwana wa majeshi atakuwa ni taji ya fahari, na kilemba cha uzuri, kwa mabaki ya watu wake.
In that day will Yahweh of Hosts become a crown of glory, and a diadem of beauty, to the residue of his people;
Naye atakuwa roho ya hukumu kwake yeye aketiye ili ahukumu; naye atakuwa nguvu kwao wageuzao nyuma vita langoni.
and a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.
Lakini hawa nao wamekosa kwa divai, wamepotea kwa kileo; kuhani na nabii wamekosa kwa kileo, wamemezwa kwa divai, wamepotea kwa kileo; hukosa katika maono, hujikwaa katika hukumu.
Even these reel with wine, and stagger with strong drink; the priest and the prophet reel with strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they stagger with strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.
Maana meza zote zimejaa matapiko na uchafu, hapana mahali palipo safi.
For all tables are full of vomit [and] filthiness, [so that there is] no place [clean].
Atamfundisha nani maarifa? Atamfahamisha nani habari hii? Je! Ni wale walioachishwa maziwa, walioondolewa matitini?
Whom will he teach knowledge? and whom will he make to understand the message? those who are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts?
Kwa maana ni amri juu ya amri, amri juu ya amri; kanuni juu ya kanuni, kanuni juu ya kanuni; huku kidogo na huku kidogo.
For it is precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little.
La, bali kwa midomo ya watu wageni, na kwa lugha nyingine atasema na watu hawa;
No, but by [men of] strange lips and with another language will he speak to this people;
ambao aliwaambia, Hii ndiyo raha yenu, mpeni raha yeye aliyechoka; huku ndiko kuburudika; lakini hawakutaka kusikia.
to whom he said, This is the rest, give you rest to him who is weary; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
Kwa sababu hiyo neno la Bwana kwao litakuwa hivi, amri juu ya amri, amri juu ya amri; kanuni juu ya kanuni, kanuni juu ya kanuni; huku kidogo na huku kidogo; ili waende na kuanguka nyuma, na kuvunjwa, na kunaswa, na kuchukuliwa.
Therefore shall the word of Yahweh be to them precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little; that they may go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
Basi, lisikieni neno la Bwana, enyi watu wenye dharau, mnaowatawala watu hawa walio ndani ya Yerusalemu.
Why hear the word of Yahweh, you scoffers, that rule this people that is in Jerusalem:
Kwa sababu mmesema, Tumefanya agano na mauti, tumepatana na kuzimu; pigo lifurikalo litakapopita, halitatufikia sisi; kwa maana tumefanya maneno ya uongo kuwa kimbilio letu, tumejificha chini ya maneno yasiyo kweli;
Because you have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come to us; for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
kwa ajili ya hayo Bwana, MUNGU, asema hivi, Tazama, naweka jiwe katika Sayuni, liwe msingi, jiwe lililojaribiwa, jiwe la pembeni lenye thamani, msingi ulio imara; yeye aaminiye hatafanya haraka.
therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner -[stone] of sure foundation: he who believes shall not be in haste.
Nami nitafanya hukumu kuwa ndiyo kanuni, na haki kuwa ndiyo timazi; na mvua ya mawe itachukulia mbali hilo kimbilio la maneno ya uongo, na maji yatapagharikisha mahali pa kujisitiri.
I will make justice the line, and righteousness the plummet; and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding-place.
Na agano lenu mliloagana na mauti litabatilika, tena mapatano yenu mliyopatana na kuzimu hayatasimama; pigo lifurikalo litakapopita, ndipo ninyi mtakapokanyagwa nalo.
Your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then you shall be trodden down by it.
Kila wakati litakapopita litawachukueni. Maana litapita asubuhi baada ya asubuhi, wakati wa mchana na wakati wa usiku; na kuifahamu habari ile kutakuwa kitisho tu.
As often as it passes though, it shall take you; for morning by morning shall it pass through, by day and by night: and it shall be nothing but terror to understand the message.
Maana kitanda kile ni kifupi asiweze mtu kujinyosha juu yake, na nguo ile ya kujifunika ni nyembamba asipate mtu kujizingisha.
For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it; and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.
Maana Bwana ataondoka kama vile katika mlima Perasimu, ataghadhibika kama vile katika bonde la Gibeoni; apate kufanya kazi yake, kazi yake ya ajabu; na kulitimiza tendo lake, tendo lake la ajabu.
For Yahweh will rise up as on Mount Perazim, he will be angry as in the valley of Gibeon; that he may do his work, his strange work, and bring to pass his act, his strange act.
Basi sasa msiwe watu wenye kudharau, vifungo vyenu msije vikakazwa; maana nimesikia kwa Bwana, Bwana wa majeshi, habari ya hukumu itakayotimizwa, nayo imekusudiwa, itakayoipata dunia yote pia.
Now therefore don't you be scoffers, lest your bonds be made strong; for a decree of destruction have I heard from the Lord, Yahweh of Hosts, on the whole earth.
Tegeni masikio, sikieni sauti yangu, sikilizeni mkasikie neno langu.
Give you ear, and hear my voice; listen, and hear my speech.
Je! Mwenye kulima alima daima, ili apande? Afunua daima madongoa ya nchi yake, na kuyavunja?
Does he who plows to sow plow continually? does he [continually] open and harrow his ground?
Akiisha kuulainisha uso wa nchi yake, je! Hamwagi huko na huko kunde, na kutupa-tupa jira, na kuitia ngano safu safu, na shayiri mahali pake palipochaguliwa, na kusemethi karibu na mipaka yake?
When he has leveled the surface of it, doesn't he cast abroad the dill, and scatter the cumin, and put in the wheat in rows, and the barley in the appointed place, and the spelt in the border of it?
Kwa maana Mungu wake anamwagiza vizuri na kumfundisha.
For his God does instruct him aright, [and] does teach him.
Kwa maana kunde zile hazipurwi kwa chombo kikali, wala gurudumu la gari halipitishwi huko na huko juu ya jira ile, bali kunde zile hupurwa kwa fimbo, na jira ile kwa ufito.
For the dill are not threshed with a sharp [threshing] instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about on the cumin; but the dill are beaten out with a staff, and the cumin with a rod.
Ngano ya mkate husagwa; kwa maana haipuri siku zote bila kukoma; na ingawa gurudumu la gari lake na farasi wake huitawanya ngano ile, haisagi.
Bread [grain] is ground; for he will not be always threshing it: and though the wheel of his cart and his horses scatter it, he does not grind it.
Hayo nayo yatoka kwa Bwana wa majeshi, mwenye shauri la ajabu, apitaye wote kwa hekima yake.
This also comes forth from Yahweh of Hosts, who is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in wisdom.
