Kisha Daudi akafanya shauri na maakida wa maelfu, na maakida wa mamia, naam, na kila kiongozi.
Then David conferred with all his leaders, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds.

Daudi akawaambia jamii yote ya Israeli, Likiwa jema kwenu, tena likiwa limetoka kwa Bwana, Mungu wetu, na tutume watu huku na huku mahali pote kwa ndugu zetu waliosalia katika nchi yote ya Israeli, ambao pamoja nao makuhani na Walawi wamo ndani ya miji yao yenye viunga, ili wakusanyike kwetu;
And he said to the whole assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if this is of the LORD our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our brothers in all the land of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites in their cities and pasturelands, so that they may join us.

nasi tujirudishie tena sanduku la Mungu wetu; maana hamkuuliza neno kwa hilo katika siku za Sauli.
Then let us bring back the ark of our God, for we did not inquire of Him in the days of Saul.”

Nao jamii nzima wakasema ya kwamba watafanya hivyo; kwa kuwa neno hilo lilikuwa jema machoni pa watu wote.
And because this proposal seemed right to all the people, the whole assembly agreed to it.

Basi Daudi akawakusanya Israeli wote, toka Shihori, kijito cha Misri, hata pa kuingilia Hamathi, ili kwamba walilete sanduku la Mungu kutoka Kiriath-yearimu.
So David assembled all Israel, from the River Shihor in Egypt to Lebo-hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.

Basi Daudi akapanda, yeye na Israeli wote, mpaka Baala, ndio Kiriath-yearimu, ulio wa Yuda, ili kulileta toka huko sanduku la Mungu, Bwana akaaye juu ya makerubi, lililoitwa kwa Jina lake.
David and all Israel went up to Baalah of Judah (that is, Kiriath-jearim) to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who is enthroned between the cherubim—the ark that is called by the Name.

Wakalipandisha sanduku la Mungu juu ya gari jipya kutoka nyumba ya Abinadabu; na Uza na Ahio wakaliendesha lile gari.
So they carried the ark of God from the house of Abinadab on a new cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding the cart.

Wakacheza Daudi na Israeli wote, mbele za Mungu, kwa nguvu zao zote; na kwa nyimbo na kwa vinubi, na kwa vinanda, na kwa matari, na kwa matoazi, na kwa tarumbeta.
David and all the Israelites were celebrating before God with all their might, with songs and on harps and lyres, with tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets.

Hata walipofika penye uga wa Nakoni, Uza akaunyosha mkono wake alishike sanduku; kwa maana wale ng'ombe walikunguwaa.
When they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark, because the oxen had stumbled.

Ndipo hasira ya Bwana ikawaka juu ya Uza, naye akampiga, kwa sababu alilinyoshea sanduku mkono wake, hata akafa pale pale mbele za Mungu.
And the anger of the LORD burned against Uzzah, and He struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.

Naye Daudi akaona uchungu, kwa kuwa Bwana amemfurikia Uza; akapaita mahali pale Peres-uza hata leo.
Then David became angry because the LORD had burst forth against Uzzah. So he named that place Perez-uzzah, as it is called to this day.

Naye Daudi akamwogopa Mungu siku ile, akasema, Nitajileteaje sanduku la Mungu kwangu?
That day David feared God and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?”

Basi Daudi hakujichukulia sanduku mjini mwa Daudi, ila akalihamisha kando na kulitia nyumbani kwa Obed-edomu Mgiti.
So he did not move the ark with him to the City of David; instead, he took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.

Sanduku la Mungu likakaa na jamaa ya Obed-edomu, nyumbani mwake, muda wa miezi mitatu; naye Bwana akaibariki nyumba ya Obed-edomu, na yote aliyokuwa nayo.
Thus the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and everything he owned.
