Now the Philistines fought against Israel, and the men of Israel fled before them, and many fell slain on Mount Gilboa.

Nao Wafilisti wakamfuatia sana Sauli na wanawe; Wafilisti wakawaua Yonathani, na Abinadabu, na Malkishua, wana wa Sauli.
The Philistines followed hard after Saul and his sons, and they killed Saul’s sons Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malchishua.

Tena vita vilikuwa vikali sana juu ya Sauli, na wapiga upinde wakampata; hata akafadhaika sana kwa sababu ya wapiga upinde.
When the battle intensified against Saul, the archers overtook him and wounded him.

Ndipo Sauli akamwambia yule mchukua silaha zake, Futa upanga wako, unichome nao, wasije watu hawa wasiotahiriwa wakanisimanga. Lakini huyo mchukua silaha zake akakataa; kwa sababu aliogopa sana. Basi Sauli akautwaa upanga wake, akauangukia.
Then Saul said to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and run me through with it, or these uncircumcised men will come and torture me!” But his armor-bearer was terrified and refused to do it. So Saul took his own sword and fell on it.

Na mchukua silaha zake alipoona ya kuwa Sauli amekufa, yeye naye akauangukia upanga wake, akafa.
When his armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he too fell on his own sword and died.

Hivyo Sauli akafa, na wanawe watatu; na nyumba yake yote wakafa pamoja.
So Saul died together with his three sons and all his house.

Kisha watu wote wa Israeli, waliokuwa huko bondeni, walipoona ya kuwa wamekimbia, na ya kuwa Sauli na wanawe wamekufa, wakaiacha miji yao, wakakimbia; nao Wafilisti wakaenda wakakaa humo.
When all the Israelites in the valley saw that the army had fled and that Saul and his sons had died, they abandoned their cities and ran away. So the Philistines came and occupied their cities.

Hata ikawa siku ya pili yake Wafilisti walipokwenda kuwateka nyara hao waliouawa, walimwona Sauli na wanawe wameanguka juu ya mlima Gilboa.
The next day, when the Philistines came to strip the dead, they found Saul and his sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.

Wakamvua mavazi, wakamtwalia kichwa, na silaha zake, kisha wakapeleka wajumbe kwenda nchi ya Wafilisti pande zote, ili kutangaza habari kwa sanamu zao, na kwa watu.
They stripped Saul, cut off his head, took his armor, and sent messengers throughout the land of the Philistines to proclaim the news in the temple of their idols and among their people.

Wakaziweka silaha zake nyumbani mwa miungu yao, wakakikaza kichwa chake nyumbani mwa Dagoni.
They put his armor in the temple of their gods and hung his head in the temple of Dagon.

Na watu wote wa Yabesh-gileadi waliposikia hayo yote Wafilisti waliyomtenda Sauli,
When all the people of Jabesh-gilead heard about everything the Philistines had done to Saul,

wakainuka mashujaa wote, wakautwaa mwili wake Sauli, na miili ya wanawe, wakaileta Yabeshi, wakaizika mifupa yao chini ya mwaloni huko Yabeshi, nao wakafunga muda wa siku saba.
all their men of valor set out and retrieved the bodies of Saul and his sons and brought them to Jabesh. And they buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh and fasted seven days.

Basi Sauli alikufa kwa sababu ya kosa lake alilomkosa Bwana, kwa sababu ya neno la Bwana, asilolishika; na tena kwa kutaka shauri kwa mwenye pepo wa utambuzi, aulize kwake,
So Saul died for his unfaithfulness to the LORD, because he did not keep the word of the LORD and even consulted a medium for guidance,

asiulize kwa Bwana; kwa hiyo akamwua, na ufalme akamgeuzia Daudi, mwana wa Yese.
and he failed to inquire of the LORD. So the LORD put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse.
