About Joel Lwaga
Joel Lwaga is a Tanzanian gospel minister and recording artist whose music blends praise and worship with contemporary gospel production. Born and raised in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, in a Christian household, he began his musical journey in church choirs and was part of worship collectives such as Next Level and Glorious Worship Team. A skilled piano player, Lwaga also holds a bachelor's degree in Economics.
In 2016, Lwaga released the song "Unaweza," which helped establish his presence in the East African gospel scene. He followed with several albums, including "Ananipenda," "Mimi Ni Wa Juu," and "Umejua Kunifurahisha." His EP "Thamani" arrived in 2020, and he continued releasing new music with "Good To Go" in 2023 and "Wapi" in 2024.
Lwaga’s work has earned him recognition in the gospel music community. In 2018, he received the Maranatha Global Worship Music Awards’ Best Petition Song for "Sitabaki Kama Nilivyo." The following year, he was named East Africa Male Artist of the Year in 2019.
Beyond the recording studio, Lwaga is an active preacher who has ministered in countries including Tanzania, Kenya, and Burundi. He also serves as the founder and owner of the record label Heaven Culture on Earth (HCE), through which he continues to produce and release his music.
