Meaning & Inspiration
“Wadumu Milele” by Joel Lwaga is a Swahili worship song whose title means “You endure forever.” The verses describe God’s rule over creation: He sets the boundaries of the sea, stores the treasuries of rain, and is known by the winds and waves. These pictures are close to Job 38:8-11 and Job 38:25-28, where the Lord speaks of the sea’s limits and the channels for rain.
The lyric also says that nothing is hidden from Him and that He declares the end from the beginning, which recalls Isaiah 46:10. The pre-chorus sets human time against His, since years and generations are not a measure for Him, close to Psalm 90:4. The second verse adds that there are many lords and many gods, but He is Lord of lords and God of gods, a phrase close to Deuteronomy 10:17.
The song also calls His name a strong fortress, recalling Proverbs 18:10. Its message is the unrivaled, unchanging greatness of God across every generation.
