Ndipo Bwana akamjibu Ayubu katika upepo wa kisulisuli, na kusema,
Then Yahweh answered Job out of the whirlwind,
Ni nani huyu atiaye mashauri giza Kwa maneno yasiyo na maarifa?
"Who is this who darkens counsel By words without knowledge?
Basi jifunge viuno kama mwanamume, Maana nitakuuliza neno, nawe niambie.
Brace yourself like a man, For I will question you, then you answer me!
Ulikuwa wapi nilipoiweka misingi ya nchi? Haya! Sema, kama ukiwa na ufahamu.
"Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if you have understanding.
Ni nani aliyeamrisha vipimo vyake, kama ukijua? Au ni nani aliyenyosha kamba juu yake?
Who determined the measures of it, if you know? Or who stretched the line on it?
Misingi yake ilikazwa juu ya kitu gani? Au ni nani aliyeliweka jiwe lake la pembeni,
Whereupon were the foundations of it fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone,
Hapo nyota za asubuhi zilipoimba pamoja, Na wana wote wa Mungu walipopiga kelele kwa furaha?
When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Au ni nani aliyeifunga bahari kwa milango, Hapo ilipofurika kana kwamba imetoka tumboni.
"Or who shut up the sea with doors, When it broke forth from the womb,
Nilipolifanya wingu kuwa vazi lake, Na giza zito kuwa nguo ya kuifungia,
When I made clouds the garment of it, Thick darkness a swaddling-band for it,
Nikaiagiza amri yangu; Nikaiwekea makomeo na milango,
Marked out for it my bound, Set bars and doors,
Nikasema, Utafika mpaka hapa, lakini hutapita, Na hapa mawimbi yako yanyetayo yatazuiliwa?
And said, 'Here you may come, but no further; Here shall your proud waves be stayed?'
Je! Umeiamuru asubuhi tangu siku zako zilipoanza? Umeyajulisha mapambazuko mahali pake?
"Have you commanded the morning in your days, And caused the dawn to know its place;
Yapate kuishika miisho ya nchi, Waovu wakung'utwe wakawe mbali nayo?
That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, And shake the wicked out of it?
Hubadilika mfano wa udongo chini ya muhuri, Vitu vyote vinatokea kama mavazi.
It is changed as clay under the seal, And stands forth as a garment.
Na waovu nuru yao huzuiliwa isiwafikie, Na mkono ulioinuka huvunjika.
From the wicked, their light is withheld, The high arm is broken.
Je! Umeziingia chemchemi za bahari, Au umetembea mahali pa siri pa vilindi?
"Have you entered into the springs of the sea? Or have you walked in the recesses of the deep?
Je! Umefunuliwa malango ya mauti, Au umeyaona malango ya kuzimu?
Have the gates of death been revealed to you? Or have you seen the gates of the shadow of death?
Umeyafahamu mapana ya dunia? Haya! Sema, ikiwa unayajua hayo yote.
Have you comprehended the earth in its breadth? Declare, if you know it all.
Iko wapi njia ya kuyafikia makao ya nuru? Na giza pia, mahali pake ni wapi?
"What is the way to the dwelling of light? As for darkness, where is the place of it,
Upate kuipeleka hata mpaka wake, Upate kuelewa na mapito ya kuiendea nyumba yake?
That you should take it to the bound of it, That you should discern the paths to the house of it?
Hukosi unajua, maana ulizaliwa wakati huo, Na hesabu ya siku zako ni kubwa!
Surely you know, for you were born then, And the number of your days is great!
Je! Umeziingia ghala za theluji, Au umeziona ghala za mvua ya mawe,
Have you entered the treasuries of the snow, Or have you seen the treasures of the hail,
Nilizoziweka akiba kwa wakati wa misiba, Kwa siku ya mapigano na vita?
Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, Against the day of battle and war?
Je! Nuru hutengwa kwa njia gani, Au upepo wa mashariki hutawanywaje juu ya nchi?
By what way is the lightning distributed, Or the east wind scattered on the earth?
Ni nani aliyepasua mfereji kwa maji ya gharika, Au njia kwa umeme wa radi;
Who has cut a channel for the flood water, Or the path for the thunderstorm;
Kunyesha mvua juu ya nchi isiyo na watu; Juu ya jangwa asiyokaa mwanadamu;
To cause it to rain on a land where no man is; On the wilderness, in which there is no man;
Kuishibisha nchi iliyo kame na ukiwa, Na kuyameza majani yaliyo mororo?
To satisfy the waste and desolate ground, To cause the tender grass to spring forth?
Je! Mvua ina baba? Au ni nani aliyeyazaa matone ya umande?
Does the rain have a father? Or who fathers the drops of dew?
Barafu ilitoka katika tumbo la nani? Na sakitu ya mbinguni ni nani aliyeizaa?
Out of whose womb came the ice? The gray frost of the sky, who has given birth to it?
Maji hugandamana kama jiwe, Na uso wa vilindi huganda kwa baridi.
The waters become hard like stone, When the surface of the deep is frozen.
Je! Waweza kuufunga mnyororo wa Kilimia, Au kuvilegeza vifungo vya Orioni?
"Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades, Or loosen the cords of Orion?
Je! Waweza kuziongoza Sayari kwa wakati wake? Au waweza kuongoza Dubu na watoto wake?
Can you lead forth the constellations in their season? Or can you guide the Bear with her cubs?
Je! Unazijua amri zilizoamuriwa mbingu? Waweza kuyathibitisha mamlaka yake juu ya dunia?
Do you know the laws of the heavens? Can you establish the dominion of it over the earth?
Waweza kuiinua sauti yako mpaka mawinguni, ili wingi wa maji ukufunikize?
"Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, That abundance of waters may cover you?
Waweza kuutuma umeme, nao ukaenda, Ukakuambia, Sisi tupo hapa?
Can you send forth lightnings, that they may go? Do they report to you, 'Here we are?'
Je! Ni nani aliyetia hekima moyoni? Au ni nani aliyetia ufahamu rohoni?
Who has put wisdom in the inward parts? Or who has given understanding to the mind?
Ni nani awezaye kuyahesabu mawingu kwa hekima? Au ni nani awezaye kuzimimina chupa za mbinguni?
Who can number the clouds by wisdom? Or who can pour out the bottles of the sky,
Wakati mavumbi yagandamanapo, Na madongoa kushikamana pamoja?
When the dust runs into a mass, And the clods of earth stick together?
Je! Utamwindia simba mke mawindo? Au utashibisha njaa ya simba wachanga,
"Can you hunt the prey for the lioness, Or satisfy the appetite of the young lions,
Waoteapo mapangoni mwao, Wakaapo mafichoni wapate kuvizia?
When they crouch in their dens, And lie in wait in the thicket?
Ni nani anayempatia kunguru chakula, Makinda yake wanapomlilia Mungu, Na kutanga-tanga kwa kutindikiwa na chakula?
Who provides for the raven his prey, When his young ones cry to God, And wander for lack of food?
