Kisha hao watu walikuwa kama wanung'unikao, wakinena maovu masikioni mwa Bwana; Bwana aliposikia hayo, hasira zake zikawaka; na moto wa Bwana ukawaka kati yao, ukateketeza katika mipaka ya mwisho wa marago.
Soon the people began to complain about their hardship in the hearing of the LORD, and when He heard them, His anger was kindled, and fire from the LORD blazed among them and consumed the outskirts of the camp.

Ndipo watu wakamlilia Musa; naye Musa akamwomba Bwana, na ule moto ukakoma.
And the people cried out to Moses, and he prayed to the LORD, and the fire died down.

Jina la mahali hapo likaitwa Tabera; kwa sababu huo moto wa Bwana ukawaka kati yao.
So that place was called Taberah, because the fire of the LORD had burned among them.

Kisha mkutano wa wafuasi waliokuwa kati yao, wakashikwa na tamaa; wana wa Israeli nao wakalia tena, wakasema, N'nani atakayetupa nyama tule?
Meanwhile, the rabble among them had a strong craving for other food, and again the Israelites wept and said, “Who will feed us meat?

Twakumbuka samaki tuliokula huko Misri bure; na yale matango, na matikiti, na mboga, na vitunguu, na vitunguu saumu;
We remember the fish we ate freely in Egypt, along with the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, and garlic.

lakini sasa roho zetu zimekauka; hapana kitu cho chote; hatuna kitu cha kutumaini isipokuwa hii mana tu.
But now our appetite is gone; there is nothing to see but this manna!”

Na hiyo mana ilikuwa mfano wa chembe za mtama na kuonekana kwake kulikuwa kama kuonekana kwake bedola.
Now the manna resembled coriander seed, and its appearance was like that of gum resin.

Watu wakazunguka-zunguka na kuikusanya, kisha wakaisaga kwa mawe ya kusagia, au kuitwanga katika vinu, kisha wakaitokosa nyunguni, na kuandaa mikate; na tamu yake ilikuwa kama tamu ya mafuta mapya.
The people walked around and gathered it, ground it on a handmill or crushed it in a mortar, then boiled it in a cooking pot or shaped it into cakes. It tasted like pastry baked with fine oil.

Umande ulipoyaangukia marago wakati wa usiku, hiyo mana ilianguka pamoja nao.
When the dew fell on the camp at night, the manna would fall with it.

Basi Musa akawasikia watu wakilia katika jamaa zao zote, kila mtu mlangoni pa hema yake; na hasira za Bwana zikawaka sana; Musa naye akakasirika.
Then Moses heard the people of family after family weeping at the entrances to their tents, and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly, and Moses was also displeased.

Musa akamwambia Bwana, Mbona umenitenda uovu mimi mtumishi wako? Kwa nini sikupata neema machoni pako, hata ukanitwika mzigo wa watu hawa wote juu yangu?
So Moses asked the LORD, “Why have You brought this trouble on Your servant? Why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You have laid upon me the burden of all these people?

Je! Ni mimi niliyewatungisha mimba watu hawa wote je! Ni mimi niliyewazaa, hata ikawa wewe kuniambia, Haya, wachukue kifuani mwako, mfano wa baba mwenye kulea achukuavyo mtoto anyonyaye, uende nao mpaka nchi uliyowaapia baba zao?
Did I conceive all these people? Did I give them birth, so that You should tell me, ‘Carry them in your bosom, as a nurse carries an infant,’ to the land that You swore to give their fathers?

Nipate wapi nyama ya kuwapa watu hawa wote? Kwani wanililia, wakisema Tupe nyama, tupate kula.
Where can I get meat for all these people? For they keep crying out to me, ‘Give us meat to eat!’

Mimi siwezi kuwachukua watu hawa wote peke yangu, kwa kuwa ni mzigo mzito sana wa kunishinda.
I cannot carry all these people by myself; it is too burdensome for me.
15
Na kama ukinitenda hivi, nakuomba uniulie mbali, kwamba nimepata fadhili mbele ya macho yako; nami nisiyaone haya mashaka yangu.
If this is how You are going to treat me, please kill me right now—if I have found favor in Your eyes—and let me not see my own wretchedness.”

Kisha Bwana akamwambia Musa, Nikusanyie watu sabini, miongoni mwa wazee wa israeli, ambao wewe wawajua kuwa ndio wazee wa watu hawa, na maakida juu yao; ukawalete hata hema ya kukutania, wasimame huko pamoja nawe.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Bring Me seventy of the elders of Israel known to you as leaders and officers of the people. Bring them to the Tent of Meeting and have them stand there with you.

Nami nitashuka niseme nawe huko, nami nitatwaa sehemu ya roho iliyo juu yako na kuiweka juu yao; nao watachukua mzigo wa watu hawa pamoja nawe, ili usiuchukue wewe peke yako.
And I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take some of the Spirit that is on you and put that Spirit on them. They will help you bear the burden of the people, so that you do not have to bear it by yourself.

Kisha uwaambie watu hawa, Jitakaseni nafsi zenu kabla ya kesho, nanyi mtakula nyama; kwa maana mmelia masikioni mwa Bwana, mkisema, Ni nani atakayetupa nyama, tule? Maana huko Misri tulikuwa na uheri. Basi kwa sababu hiyo Bwana atawapa nyama, nanyi mtakula.
And say to the people: Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you will eat meat, because you have cried out in the hearing of the LORD, saying: ‘Who will feed us meat? For we were better off in Egypt!’ Therefore the LORD will give you meat, and you will eat.

Hamtakula siku moja, wala siku mbili, wala siku tano, wala siku kumi, wala siku ishirini;
You will eat it not for one or two days, nor for five or ten or twenty days,
20
lakini mtakula muda wa mwezi mzima, hata hapo nyama hiyo itakapotoka katika mianzi ya pua zenu, nanyi mtaikinai, kwa sababu mmemkataa Bwana aliye kati yenu, na kulia mbele zake, mkisema, Tulitoka Misri kwa maana gani?
but for a whole month—until it comes out of your nostrils and makes you nauseous—because you have rejected the LORD, who is among you, and have cried out before Him, saying, ‘Why did we ever leave Egypt?’”

Musa akasema, Watu hawa ambao mimi ni kati yao, ni watu sita mia elfu waendao kwa miguu; nawe umesema, Nitawapa nyama, ili wale muda wa mwezi mzima.
But Moses replied, “Here I am among 600,000 men on foot, yet You say, ‘I will give them meat, and they will eat for a month.’

Je! Makundi ya kondoo na ng'ombe yatachinjwa kwa ajili yao, ili kuwatosha? Au samaki wote wa baharini watakusanywa pamoja kwa ajili yao, ili kuwatosha?
If all our flocks and herds were slaughtered for them, would they have enough? Or if all the fish in the sea were caught for them, would they have enough?”

Bwana akamwambia Musa, Je! Mkono wa Bwana umepungua urefu wake? Sasa utaona kwamba neno langu litatimizwa kwako, au sivyo.
The LORD answered Moses, “Is the LORD’s arm too short? Now you will see whether or not My word will come to pass.”
24
Musa akatoka, akawaambia watu maneno ya Bwana; akawakutanisha watu sabini miongoni mwa wazee wa watu, akawaweka kuizunguka Hema.
So Moses went out and relayed to the people the words of the LORD, and he gathered seventy of the elders of the people and had them stand around the tent.

Ndipo Bwana akashuka ndani ya wingu, akanena naye, akatwaa sehemu ya roho iliyokuwa juu ya Musa, akaitia juu ya wale wazee sabini; ikawa, roho hiyo ilipowashukia, wakatabiri, lakini hawakufanya hivyo tena.
Then the LORD came down in the cloud and spoke to him, and He took some of the Spirit that was on Moses and placed that Spirit on the seventy elders. As the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied—but they never did so again.

Lakini watu wawili walisalia kambini, jina la mmoja aliitwa Eldadi, na jina la wa pili aliitwa Medadi; na roho ile ikawashukia; nao walikuwa miongoni mwao walioandikwa, lakini walikuwa hawakutoka kwenda hemani; nao wakatabiri kambini.
Two men, however, had remained in the camp—one named Eldad and the other Medad—and the Spirit rested on them. They were among those listed, but they had not gone out to the tent, and they prophesied in the camp.

Mtu mmoja kijana akapiga mbio, akaenda akamwambia Musa, akasema, Eldadi na Medadi wanatoa unabii kambini.
A young man ran and reported to Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.”
28
Yoshua mwana wa Nuni, mtumishi wa Musa tangu ujana wake, akajibu akasema, Ee bwana wangu Musa, uwakataze.
Joshua son of Nun, the attendant to Moses since youth, spoke up and said, “Moses, my lord, stop them!”

Musa akamwambia, Je! Umekuwa na wivu kwa ajili yangu; ingekuwa heri kama watu wote wa Bwana wangekuwa manabii na kama Bwana angewatia roho yake.
But Moses replied, “Are you jealous on my account? I wish that all the LORD’s people were prophets and that the LORD would place His Spirit on them!”

Kisha Musa akaenda akaingia kambini, yeye na wale wazee wa Israeli.
Then Moses returned to the camp, along with the elders of Israel.
31
Kisha upepo ukavuma kutoka kwa Bwana, nao ukaleta kware kutoka pande za baharini, nao ukawaacha wakaanguka karibu na kambi, kama kiasi cha mwendo wa siku moja upande huu, na kama kiasi cha mwendo wa siku moja upande huu, kuizunguka, nao wakafikilia kiasi cha dhiraa mbili juu ya uso wa nchi.
Now a wind sent by the LORD came up, drove in quail from the sea, and brought them near the camp, about two cubits above the surface of the ground, for a day’s journey in every direction around the camp.

Watu wakaondoka mchana huo wote, na usiku huo wote, na siku ya pili yote, kuwakusanya hao kware; yeye aliyepata ya upungufu kuliko wenziwe alipata kiasi cha homeri kumi; nao wakawaanika wote kando-kando ya kambi kuizunguka pande zote.
All that day and night, and all the next day, the people stayed up gathering the quail. No one gathered less than ten homers, and they spread them out all around the camp.

Kisha hapo hiyo nyama ilipokuwa ikali kati ya meno yao, hawajaitafuna bado, hasira za Bwana ziliwaka juu ya watu, Bwana akawapiga watu kwa pigo kuu mno.
But while the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the anger of the LORD burned against the people, and the LORD struck them with a severe plague.
34
Jina la mahali pale likaitwa Kibroth-hataava; maana, ni hapo walipowazika hao watu waliotamani.
So they called that place Kibroth-hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had craved other food.
35
Kutoka hapo Kibroth-hataava watu wakasafiri kwenda Haserothi; wakakaa huko Haserothi. </p>
From Kibroth-hattaavah the people moved on to Hazeroth, where they remained for some time.
