Basi mitume na ndugu waliokuwako katika Uyahudi wakapata habari ya kwamba watu wa Mataifa nao wamelipokea neno la Mungu.
The apostles and brothers throughout Judea soon heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God.

Na Petro alipopanda kwenda Yerusalemu, wale walio wa tohara wakashindana naye,
So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcised believers took issue with him

wakisema, Uliingia kwa watu wasiotahiriwa ukala nao.
and said, “You visited uncircumcised men and ate with them.”

But Peter began and explained to them the whole sequence of events:

“I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision of something like a large sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came right down to me.

Nikakitazama sana, nikifikiri, nikaona wanyama wa nchi wenye miguu minne, na wanyama wa mwituni, nao watambaao, na ndege wa angani.
I looked at it closely and saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, reptiles, and birds of the air.

Nikasikia na sauti ikiniambia, Ondoka, Petro, ukachinje ule.
Then I heard a voice saying to me, ‘Get up, Peter, kill and eat.’

Nikasema, Hasha, Bwana, kwa maana kitu kilicho kichafu au kilicho najisi hakijaingia kabisa kinywani mwangu.
‘No, Lord,’ I said, ‘for nothing impure or unclean has ever entered my mouth.’

Sauti ikanijibu mara ya pili kutoka mbinguni, Alivyovitakasa Mungu, usivinene wewe najisi.
But the voice spoke from heaven a second time, ‘Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.’

Jambo hili likatendeka mara tatu, kisha vitu vyote vikavutwa tena juu mbinguni.
This happened three times, and everything was drawn back up into heaven.

Na tazama, mara hiyo watu watatu wakasimama mbele ya nyumba tuliyokuwamo, waliotumwa kwangu kutoka Kaisaria.
Just then three men sent to me from Caesarea stopped at the house where I was staying.

Roho akaniambia nifuatane nao, nisione tashwishi. Ndugu hawa sita nao wakaenda pamoja nami, tukaingia katika nyumba ya mtu yule;
The Spirit told me to accompany them without hesitation. These six brothers also went with me, and we entered the man’s home.

akatueleza jinsi alivyomwona malaika aliyesimama nyumbani mwake na kumwambia, Tuma watu kwenda Yafa ukamwite Simoni aitwaye Petro,
He told us how he had seen an angel standing in his house and saying, ‘Send to Joppa for Simon who is called Peter.

atakayekuambia maneno ambayo yatakuokoa, wewe na nyumba yako yote.
He will convey to you a message by which you and all your household will be saved.’

Ikawa nilipoanza kunena, Roho Mtakatifu akawashukia kama alivyotushukia sisi mwanzo.
As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, just as He had fallen upon us at the beginning.

Nikalikumbuka neno lile la Bwana, jinsi alivyosema, Yohana alibatiza kwa maji kweli, bali ninyi mtabatizwa kwa Roho Mtakatifu.
Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’

Basi ikiwa Mwenyezi Mungu amewapa wao karama ile ile aliyotupa sisi tuliomwamini Bwana Yesu Kristo, mimi ni nani niweze kumpinga Mungu?
So if God gave them the same gift He gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to hinder the work of God?”

Waliposikia maneno haya wakanyamaza, wakamtukuza Mungu, wakisema, Basi, Mungu amewajalia hata mataifa nao toba liletalo uzima.
When they heard this, they had no further objections, and they glorified God, saying, “So then, God has granted even the Gentiles repentance unto life.”

Basi wale waliotawanyika kwa sababu ya ile dhiki iliyotukia kwa habari ya Stefano, wakasafiri hata Foinike na Kipro na Antiokia, wasilihubiri lile neno ila kwa Wayahudi peke yao.
Meanwhile those scattered by the persecution that began with Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the message only to Jews.

Lakini baadhi ya hao walikuwa watu wa Kipro na Kirene, nao walipofika Antiokia wakasema na Wayahudi wa Kiyunani, wakihubiri habari njema za Bwana Yesu.
But some of them, men from Cyprus and Cyrene, went to Antioch and began speaking to the Greeks as well, proclaiming the good news about the Lord Jesus.

Mkono wa Bwana ukawa pamoja nao, watu wengi wakaamini, wakamwelekea Bwana.
The hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord.
22
Habari hizo za watu hao zikafika masikioni mwa kanisa lililokuwako katika Yerusalemu; wakamtuma Barnaba, aende hata Antiokia.
When news of this reached the ears of the church in Jerusalem, they sent Barnabas to Antioch.

Naye, alipokwisha kufika na kuiona neema ya Mungu akafurahi, akawasihi wote waambatane na Bwana kwa kusudi la moyo.
When he arrived and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced and encouraged them all to abide in the Lord with all their hearts.

Maana alikuwa mtu mwema amejaa Roho Mtakatifu na imani; watu wengi wakaongezeka upande wa Bwana.
Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord.

Kisha akatoka akaenda Tarso kumtafuta Sauli;
Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul,

hata alipokwisha kumwona akamleta Antiokia. Ikawa kwa muda wa mwaka mzima wakakusanyika pamoja na kanisa na kuwafundisha watu wengi. Na wanafunzi waliitwa Wakristo kwanza hapo Antiokia.
and when he found him, he brought him back to Antioch. So for a full year they met together with the church and taught large numbers of people. The disciples were first called Christians at Antioch.

Siku zizo hizo manabii walitelemka kutoka Yerusalemu hata Antiokia.
In those days some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.

Na tulipokusanyika akasimama mmoja wao, jina lake Agabo, akaonyesha kwa uweza wa Roho Mtakatifu kwamba njaa kubwa itakuja karibu katika dunia nzima, nayo ikatukia katika siku za Klaudio.
One of them named Agabus stood up and predicted through the Spirit that a great famine would sweep across the whole world. (This happened under Claudius.)

Na wale wanafunzi, kila mtu kwa kadiri ya alivyofanikiwa, wakaazimu kupeleka msaada kwa ndugu zao waliokaa Uyahudi.
So the disciples, each according to his ability, decided to send relief to the brothers living in Judea.

Wakafanya hivyo, wakawapelekea wazee kwa mikono ya Barnaba na Sauli.
This they did, sending their gifts to the elders with Barnabas and Saul.
