Bwana, Mungu wako, atakapoyakatilia mbali hayo mataifa yenye nchi akupayo Bwana, Mungu wako, nawe ukawafuata, na kukaa katika miji yao, na katika nyumba zao;
When Yahweh your God shall cut off the nations, whose land Yahweh your God gives you, and you succeed them, and dwell in their cities, and in their houses;
itenge miji mitatu iwe kwako katikati ya nchi yako, akupayo Bwana, Mungu wako, kuimiliki.
you shall set apart three cities for you in the midst of your land, which Yahweh your God gives you to possess it.
Itengeze njia, igawanye na mipaka ya nchi yako, akurithishayo Bwana, Mungu wako, iwe mafungu matatu, ili kwamba kila mwenye kuua mtu apate kukimbilia huko.
You shall prepare you the way, and divide the borders of your land, which Yahweh your God causes you to inherit, into three parts, that every manslayer may flee there.
Na hii ndiyo hukumu ya mwenye kuua mtu, atakayekimbilia huko awe hai; atakayemwua mwenziwe pasipo kukusudia, wala hakumchukia tangu hapo;
This is the case of the manslayer, that shall flee there and live: whoever kills his neighbor unawares, and didn't hate him in time past;
kama aingiapo mtu na mwenziwe mwituni kwenda kukata kuni, akapeleka mkono wake na shoka ili kukata mti, likatoka shoka katika mpini, likampiga yule mwenziwe hata akafa; basi na akimbilie katika miji hii mmojawapo awe hai;
as when a man goes into the forest with his neighbor to hew wood, and his hand fetches a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slips from the handle, and lights on his neighbor, so that he dies; he shall flee to one of these cities and live:
asije akaandamiwa mwuaji na mwenye kulipiza kisasi cha damu, moyo wake ukali na hasira, akampata kwa njia kuwa ndefu, akamwua; wala hana haki ya kuuawa, kwa kuwa hakumchukia tangu hapo.
lest the avenger of blood pursue the manslayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and strike him mortally; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he didn't hate him in time past.
Kwa sababu hii ninakuamuru, na kukuambia, Ujitengee miji mitatu.
Therefore I command you, saying, You shall set apart three cities for you.
Na kama Bwana, Mungu wako, akiueneza mpaka wako kama alivyowaapia baba zako, akakupa na nchi yote aliyoahidi kwamba atawapa baba zako;
If Yahweh your God enlarge your border, as he has sworn to your fathers, and give you all the land which he promised to give to your fathers;
nawe ukiyashika maagizo haya yote nikuagizayo leo, na kuyafanya, kumpenda Bwana, Mungu wako, na kwenda sikuzote katika njia zake, ndipo ujiongezee miji mitatu tena, pamoja na mitatu ile;
if you shall keep all this commandment to do it, which I command you this day, to love Yahweh your God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shall you add three cities more for you, besides these three:
isije ikamwagika damu ya asiye makosa kati ya nchi yako akupayo Bwana, Mungu wako, iwe urithi, ikawa na damu juu yako.
that innocent blood not be shed in the midst of your land, which Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance, and so blood be on you.
Lakini mtu awaye yote akimchukia mwenziwe na kumwotea na kumwinukia, akampiga hata akafa; naye akakimbilia miji hii mmojawapo;
But if any man hate his neighbor, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and strike him mortally so that he dies, and he flee into one of these cities;
ndipo wazee wa mji wake wapeleke ujumbe kumtwaa huko, na kumuua katika mkono wa mwenye kulipiza kisasi cha damu, apate kufa.
then the elders of his city shall send and bring him there, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.
Jicho lako lisimhurumie, lakini uondoe damu ya asiye makosa katika Israeli, ili upate kufanikiwa.
Your eye shall not pity him, but you shall put away the innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with you.
Usiiondoe alama ya mpaka wa jirani yako, waliouweka watu wa kale katika urithi wako, utakaorithi ndani ya nchi akupayo Bwana, Mungu wako, uimiliki.
You shall not remove your neighbor's landmark, which they of old time have set, in your inheritance which you shall inherit, in the land that Yahweh your God gives you to possess it.
Shahidi mmoja asimwinukie mtu awaye yote kumshuhudia kwa uovu wo wote, wala kwa dhambi yo yote, katika makosa akosayo yo yote; jambo na lithibitishwe kwa vinywa vya mashahidi wawili, au watatu.
One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sins: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall a matter be established.
Shahidi mdhalimu akimwinukia mtu ye yote na kushuhudia juu yake ya upotoe;
If an unrighteous witness rise up against any man to testify against him of wrong-doing,
ndipo wale watu washindanao kwa mambo yale na wasimame wote wawili mbele za Bwana, mbele ya makuhani na waamuzi watakaokuwapo siku hizo;
then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before Yahweh, before the priests and the judges who shall be in those days;
nao waamuzi na watafute kwa bidii; na tazama, yule shahidi akiwa shahidi wa uongo, naye ametoa ushahidi wa uongo juu ya nduguye;
and the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness is a false witness, and has testified falsely against his brother;
ndipo mtamfanyia kama alivyodhani kumfanyia nduguye; ndivyo utakavyoondoa uovu katikati yako.
then shall you do to him, as he had thought to do to his brother: so shall you put away the evil from the midst of you.
Na watakaosalia watasikia na kuogopa, wasifanye tena uovu mfano wa huo katikati yako.
Those who remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil in the midst of you.
Wala jicho lako lisiwe na huruma; uzima kwa uzima, jicho kwa jicho, jino kwa jino, mkono kwa mkono, mguu kwa mguu.
Your eyes shall not pity; life [shall go] for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
