About Israel Mbonyi
Israel Mbonyi, born Israel Mbonyicyambu on May 20, 1992, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is a Rwandan gospel singer, songwriter, and worship leader. He was raised in Ruhengeri, Rwanda, and later earned a degree in Pharmacy from India before pursuing music full-time.
Mbonyi began his music career in 2014 with the release of his debut album, Number One. He performs in Kinyarwanda, Swahili, and other languages and is also a guitarist. His subsequent albums include Intashyo (2017), Hari Ubuzima (2020), Mbwira (2022), and Umusirikare (2023). Songs from his catalog, such as "Nzaririmba," "Baho," and "Nina Siri," have further established his presence in East African gospel music. He also hosts an annual event known as the "Icyambu Live Concert."
In 2020, Mbonyi won Best Album at the Maranatha Awards for Mbwira. In 2023, he received Male Artiste of the Year and Best Gospel Artiste honors at the Isango Na Muzika Awards. By March 2024, his YouTube channel had surpassed 1 million subscribers.
