Lyrics
Verse 1
Kwa Sasa ya dunia
Kwangu Ni kama yameangikwa
Yaliyokuwa faida
Nayahesabu kama hasara
Sikiliza dunia Ujue kwamba mimi si wako
Chorus
Nimehesabiwa haki
Kwa damu yake mutetezi
Jina langu Limeandikwa,
Kwenye kitabu cha uzima
Sikiliza dunia,
Ujuwe kwamba mimi si wako
Verse 2
Sasa maumivu Hayanitishi
Nitayasahau kwa Yesu
Haijadhihirika nitakavyokuwa
Tutafanana akidhihilika
Éwé mbingu Yakiri Haya maneno
Ayiweeeee, Kweli dunia Mi si wako

Meaning & Inspiration
“Sikiliza Dunia” by Israel Mbonyi is a Swahili song of separation from the world, and the title means “Listen, world.” The verse says that what once counted as gain is now counted as loss, and the refrain tells the world, “Ujue kwamba mimi si wako,” or “know that I am not yours.”
The chorus gives the reason: the singer has been counted righteous by the blood of the Advocate, and the name is written in the book of life. The second verse says that present pain no longer brings fear, since it will be forgotten in Jesus, and it looks ahead to what has not yet been revealed, when believers will be like Him.
The themes are close to Philippians 3:7-8, Romans 5:9 and 1 John 3:2, on counting gain as loss for Christ, being justified by His blood and being made like Him. The song is quiet, personal and declarative.
