Meaning & Inspiration
“Nzibyo Nibwira” by Israel Mbonyi is a Kinyarwanda worship song that appears to speak partly in God’s voice. The title and the lines about what God intends to do, to give a hope for the future and love for His people, are close to Jeremiah 29:11, where God speaks of plans for a future and a hope.
The chorus sends the hearers to tell the afflicted and comfort the wounded, because they have a God who does not change, who found them in the mud, lifted them out, cleansed and forgave them. That recalls Psalm 40:2 and Isaiah 61:1-2. A later section tells the listener to stand on the tower and wait for what God will say, to ignore the voices of Satan, and to keep praying, which echoes Habakkuk 2:1 and 1 Thessalonians 5:17.
The song’s message is hope in God’s plans, a call to comfort others, and persistence in prayer.
