Lyrics
Chorus
Ikiwa nimepata neema kwako, unikumbuke
Jicho lako liwe juu yangu nyakati zote
Wema wako unisindikize Hadi tamati
Hili ni ombi langu, nakumwagia moyo Ninachoomba kaa nami
ikiwa nimepata neema kwako
- Kutakuwa milima haitaondolewa
Kutakuwa na mito na sitaweza kuvuka
Sio kila ombi litajibiwa nipendavyo
Sio kila wimbo utakaotuliza moyo
Nimekupata, nina mtetezi
Unionyeshe njia zako
Nikujue.
- Kumbuka hayo mema niwaombeayo wanaonifurahia
maadui zangu nao, uwape kukujua
Uwabaliriki kwa utele uwanyeshee mvua
yamkini watapata kuona
Wapumue upendo.
Tunaoshiriki hii huduma,
uwape uamsho
Uwabaliriki kwa utele ,
Baba wala-hi-sishie.
3.Kwa maswali na majibu,
umasikini utajiri, usumbufu utulivu
Ewee Mwokozi kaa nami
Kwa kupanda kwa kushuka,
habari za kuvunja moyo
Kwa uzushi na uongo
Ewee Mwokozi kaa nami

Meaning & Inspiration
“Kaa Nami” by Israel Mbonyi is a Swahili prayer that means “stay with me.” The chorus asks that if the singer has found favor with God, He would remember them, keep His eyes on them at all times, and let His goodness accompany them to the end. The plain request, “Ninachoomba kaa nami,” is the center of the song.
The first verse is honest about difficulty: there will be mountains that are not removed and rivers that cannot be crossed, and not every prayer will be answered as the singer wishes. Even so, the singer says, “Nimekupata, nina mtetezi,” I have found You, I have a defender, and asks to be shown His ways. The second verse prays blessing for enemies and for others in the same ministry. The third asks the Savior to stay through questions and answers, poverty and wealth, rising and falling, and discouraging news and lies.
The themes are close to Luke 24:29, Psalm 23:6 and Matthew 5:44.
