Lyrics
Chorus
Nimezikumbuka siku za kale
Nakunyoshea mikono yangu bwana
Usifiwe
Nimeyatafakari matendo yako
Nashangaa tena, ni tamu sana kuwa na wewe
Uliyatatua yote magumu
Nakosa usemi, Moyo unatosheka
Na wewe
Verse
Katika milima na ma boonde
Ulitembea na mi
Hata na miali ya moto
Haikunigu gusa kamwe
Nitatunza ahadi yako
Rohoni mwangu
Ili nisisahau kamwe
Ulio yatenda Maishani mwangu
Haya yatakua mema
Niyatangazie wote
Nikumbukapo ni paza ..
Paza Sauti, Nikuimbe.
Bridge
Ulipo nitoa nashukuru, Shukuru
Nakushukuru, asante Bwana
Na hapa nilipo natosheka, tosheka
Nakushukuru , asante Bwana

Meaning & Inspiration
“Nimezikumbuka” by Israel Mbonyi is a Swahili song of remembering what God has done. The title means “I have remembered,” and the chorus says the singer recalls the days of old, stretches out the hands and says, “Usifiwe,” or “be praised.” The singer reflects on His works and says it is sweet to be with Him.
The verse recalls walking with the Lord in mountains and valleys and through flames of fire that did not touch the singer. It promises to keep His promise in the heart so as never to forget what He did, and to tell everyone. The bridge repeats thanks for being brought out and says the singer is satisfied where he now stands.
The themes are close to Psalm 77:11-12, Isaiah 43:2 and Psalm 107:1-2, on remembering the Lord’s works, His presence in the fire and telling of His deliverance.
