Wakati huo wakakaribia hao binti za Selofehadi, mwana wa Heferi, mwana wa Gileadi, mwana wa Makiri, mwana wa Manase, wa jamaa za Manase mwana wa Yusufu; na majina ya hao binti za Selofehadi ni haya; Mala, na Noa, na Hogla, na Milka, na Tirsa.
Then drew near the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph; and these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.
Nao wakasimama mbele ya Musa, na mbele ya Eleazari kuhani, na mbele ya wakuu, na mkutano wote, mlangoni pa hema ya kukutania, wakasema,
They stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, at the door of the tent of meeting, saying,
Babaetu alikufa nyikani, naye hakuwamo katika mkutano wa hao waliojikutanisha kinyume cha Bwana katika mkutano wa Kora; lakini akafa katika dhambi zake mwenyewe; naye alikuwa hana wana wa kiume.
Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not among the company of those who gathered themselves together against Yahweh in the company of Korah: but he died in his own sin; and he had no sons.
Kwa nini basi jina la babaetu kufutwa katika jamaa zake kwa sababu alikuwa hana mwana wa kiume? Tupe sisi urithi pamoja na ndugu zake babaetu.
Why should the name of our father be taken away from among his family, because he had no son? Give to us a possession among the brothers of our father.
Basi Musa akaleta neno lao mbele ya Bwana
Moses brought their cause before Yahweh.
Bwana akanena na Musa, na kumwambia,
Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
Hao binti za Selofehadi wananena lililo haki; kweli utawapa milki ya urithi pamoja na ndugu za baba yao; nawe utawapa urithi wa baba yao.
The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: you shall surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brothers; and you shall cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them.
Kisha utanena na wana wa Israeli, na kuwaambia, Mtu akifa, naye hana mwana wa kiume, ndipo utampa binti yake urithi wake.
You shall speak to the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then you shall cause his inheritance to pass to his daughter.
Tena ikiwa hana binti, mtawapa nduguze urithi wake.
If he have no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance to his brothers.
Na ikiwa hana ndugu, mtawapa ndugu za babaye huo urithi wake.
If he have no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his father's brothers.
Tena ikiwa babaye hana ndugu, utampa huyo aliye karibu naye katika jamaa zake huo urithi wake, naye atakuwa nao; na neno hili litakuwa ni amri ya hukumu kwa wana wa Israeli, kama Bwana alivyomwagiza Musa.
If his father have no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his kinsman who is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be to the children of Israel a statute [and] ordinance, as Yahweh commanded Moses.
Bwana akamwambia Musa, Panda wewe juu ya mlima huu wa Abarimu, uitazame nchi niliyowapa wana wa Israeli.
Yahweh said to Moses, Go up into this mountain of Abarim, and see the land which I have given to the children of Israel.
Na ukiisha kuiona, wewe nawe utakusanyika pamoja na baba zako, kama Haruni ndugu yako alivyokusanyika;
When you have seen it, you also shall be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother was gathered;
kwa sababu mliasi juu ya neno langu katika jangwa la Sini wakati wa mateto ya mkutano, wala hamkunistahi, hapo majini, mbele ya macho yao. (Maji hayo ndiyo maji ya Meriba ya Kadeshi katika jangwa la Sini.)
because you rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the waters before their eyes. (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)
Musa akanena na Bwana akisema,
Moses spoke to Yahweh, saying,
Bwana, Mungu wa roho za wenye mwili wote, na aweke mtu juu ya mkutano,
Let Yahweh, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation,
atakayetoka mbele yao, na kuingia mbele yao; atakayewaongoza watokapo, na kuwaleta ndani; ili mkutano wa Bwana wasiwe kama kondoo wasio na mchungaji.
who may go out before them, and who may come in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may bring them in; that the congregation of Yahweh not be as sheep which have no shepherd.
Bwana akamwambia Musa, Mtwae Yoshua, mwana wa Nuni, mtu mwenye roho ndani yake, ukamwekee mkono wako;
Yahweh said to Moses, Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him;
kisha ukamweke mbele ya Eleazari kuhani, na mbele ya mkutano wote; ukampe mausia mbele ya macho yao.
and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.
Nawe utaweka juu yake sehemu ya heshima yako, ili mkutano wote wa wana wa Israeli wapate kutii.
You shall put of your honor on him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may obey.
Naye atasimama mbele ya Eleazari kuhani, naye atamwulizia kwa hukumu ya ile Urimu mbele za Bwana; kwa neno lake watatoka, na kwa neno lake wataingia; yeye na wana wa Israeli wote pamoja naye, mkutano wote pia.
He shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before Yahweh: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.
Musa akafanya kama Bwana alivyomwamuru; akamtwaa Yoshua, akamweka mbele ya Eleazari kuhani, na mbele ya mkutano wote;
Moses did as Yahweh commanded him; and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:
kisha akaweka mikono yake juu yake, akampa mausia, kama Bwana alivyosema kwa mkono wa Musa. </p>
and he laid his hands on him, and gave him a charge, as Yahweh spoke by Moses.
