Bwana akamwambia Samweli, Hata lini utamlilia Sauli, ikiwa mimi nimemkataa asiwamiliki Israeli? Ijaze pembe yako mafuta, uende, nami nitakupeleka kwa Yese, Mbethlehemi; maana nimejipatia mfalme katika wanawe.
Yahweh said to Samuel, How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from being king over Israel? fill your horn with oil, and go: I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite; for I have provided me a king among his sons.
Samweli akasema, Nawezaje kwenda? Sauli akipata habari, ataniua. Basi Bwana akasema, Chukua ndama pamoja nawe, ukaseme, Nimekuja ili kumtolea Bwana dhabihu.
Samuel said, How can I go? if Saul hear it, he will kill me. Yahweh said, Take a heifer with you, and say, I am come to sacrifice to Yahweh.
Ukamwite Yese aje kwenye dhabihu, nami nitakuonyesha utakayotenda; nawe utamtia mafuta yule nitakayemtaja kwako.
Call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you shall do: and you shall anoint to me him whom I name to you.
Samweli akafanya hayo aliyosema Bwana, akaenda Bethlehemu. Wakaja wazee wa mji kumlaki, wakitetemeka, nao wakasema, Je! Umekuja kwa amani?
Samuel did that which Yahweh spoke, and came to Bethlehem. The elders of the city came to meet him trembling, and said, Come you peaceably?
Naye akasema, Naam, kwa amani; nimekuja kumtolea Bwana dhabihu; jitakaseni; njoni pamoja nami kwenye dhabihu. Akawatakasa Yese na wanawe, akawaita kwenye dhabihu.
He said, Peaceably; I am come to sacrifice to Yahweh: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. He sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.
Ikawa walipokuja, alimtazama Eliabu, akasema, Yakini masihi wa BWANA yupo hapa mbele zake.
It happened, when they had come, that he looked at Eliab, and said, Surely Yahweh's anointed is before him.
Lakini Bwana akamwambia Samweli, Usimtazame uso wake, wala urefu wa kimo chake; kwa maana mimi nimemkataa. Bwana haangalii kama binadamu aangaliavyo; maana wanadamu huitazama sura ya nje, bali Bwana huutazama moyo.
But Yahweh said to Samuel, "Don't look on his face, or on the height of his stature; because I have rejected him: for [Yahweh sees] not as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart."
Ndipo Yese akamwita Abinadabu, akampitisha mbele ya Samweli. Naye akasema, Bwana hakumchagua huyu.
Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. He said, Neither has Yahweh chosen this.
Ndipo Yese akampitisha Shama. Naye akasema, wala Bwana hakumchagua huyu.
Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by. He said, Neither has Yahweh chosen this.
Yese akawapitisha wanawe saba mbele ya Samweli. Samweli akamwambia Yese, Bwana hakuwachagua hawa.
Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. Samuel said to Jesse, Yahweh has not chosen these.
Kisha Samweli akamwambia Yese, Watoto wako wote wapo hapa? Naye akasema, Amesalia mdogo wao, na tazama, anawachunga kondoo. Basi Samweli akamwambia Yese, Tuma watu, wamlete; kwa sababu hatutaketi hata atakapokuja huku.
Samuel said to Jesse, Are here all your children? He said, There remains yet the youngest, and, behold, he is keeping the sheep. Samuel said to Jesse, Send and get him; for we will not sit down until he come here.
Basi akatuma mtu, naye akamleta kwao. Naye alikuwa mwekundu, mwenye macho mazuri, na umbo lake lilikuwa la kupendeza. Bwana akasema, Ondoka, umtie mafuta; maana huyu ndiye.
He sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful face, and goodly to look on. Yahweh said, Arise, anoint him; for this is he.
Ndipo Samweli akaitwaa pembe yenye mafuta, akamtia mafuta kati ya ndugu zake; na roho ya Bwana ikamjilia Daudi kwa nguvu tangu siku ile. Basi Samweli akaondoka, akaenda zake Rama.
Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brothers: and the Spirit of Yahweh came mightily on David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.
Basi, roho ya Bwana ilikuwa imemwacha Sauli, na roho mbaya kutoka kwa Bwana ikamsumbua.
Now the Spirit of Yahweh departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from Yahweh troubled him.
Nao watumishi wa Sauli wakamwambia, Angalia, sasa roho mbaya kutoka kwa Mungu inakusumbua.
Saul's servants said to him, See now, an evil spirit from God troubles you.
Basi bwana wetu na atuamuru sisi watumishi wake waliopo hapa mbele yako watafute mtu aliye stadi wa kupiga kinubi; basi itakuwa, roho ile mbaya kutoka kwa Mungu itakapokujilia, yeye atapiga kinubi kwa mkono wake, nawe utapona.
Let our lord now command your servants who are before you, to seek out a man who is a skillful player on the harp: and it shall happen, when the evil spirit from God is on you, that he shall play with his hand, and you shall be well.
Basi Sauli akawaambia, Vema, nitafutieni mtu aliye stadi wa kupiga kinubi, mkaniletee.
Saul said to his servants, Provide me now a man who can play well, and bring him to me.
Ndipo akajibu mmoja wa watumishi wake akasema, Tazama, nimemwona mwana mmoja wa Yese, Mbethlehemi, aliye stadi wa kupiga kinubi, tena ni mtu shujaa, hodari wa vita, anenaye kwa busara, mtu mzuri, ambaye Bwana yu pamoja naye.
Then answered one of the young men, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, and a mighty man of valor, and a man of war, and prudent in speech, and a comely person; and Yahweh is with him.
Basi Sauli akampelekea Yese wajumbe, akasema, Nipelekee Daudi mwanao, aliye pamoja na kondoo.
Therefore Saul sent messengers to Jesse, and said, Send me David your son, who is with the sheep.
Yese akatwaa punda, wa kuchukua mikate, na kiriba cha divai, na mwana-mbuzi, akampelekea Sauli kwa mkono wa Daudi mwanawe.
Jesse took a donkey loaded with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid, and sent them by David his son to Saul.
Basi Daudi akamwendea Sauli, akasimama mbele yake, naye akampenda sana; naye akapata kuwa mtu wa kumchukulia silaha zake.
David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armor bearer.
Kisha Sauli akapeleka watu kwa Yese, akasema, Tafadhali, mwache Daudi asimame mbele yangu; maana ameona kibali machoni pangu.
Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Please let David stand before me; for he has found favor in my sight.
Ikawa, ile roho mbaya kutoka kwa Mungu ilipomjilia Sauli, ndipo Daudi akakishika kinubi, akakipiga kwa mkono wake, naye Sauli akaburudishwa, na ile roho mbaya ikamwacha.
It happened, when the [evil] spirit from God was on Saul, that David took the harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.
