Meaning & Inspiration
“Ulinamaka” by Paul Clement is a worship song in Swahili and English that praises God’s power. The refrain addresses Him as Father and calls out “Una nguvu,” which means “You have power,” in repeated rounds. The middle section says “Sina mashaka na wewe,” or “I have no doubts with You,” and “Mungu una nguvu,” God, You have power.
The bridge repeats the same thought in English: “I have no doubts with You, God, You are powerful.” The confession of having no doubt in God is close to Romans 4:20-21, where Abraham was fully persuaded that God could do what He had promised. The repeated acknowledgment of God’s strength recalls Psalm 62:11 and Jeremiah 32:17.
The song is built from short repeated lines, so the congregation can sing along without needing a verse or story. Its message is trust that rests on God’s power: the worshiper says there is no doubt because God is able, and the song keeps repeating it until it settles.
