Meaning & Inspiration
“Bwana Mungu Nashangaa Kabisa” is a Swahili hymn that moves from wonder at creation to gratitude for salvation and hope in Christ’s return, performed here by PaPi Clever & Dorcas. The opening verse stands amazed as the singer considers stars, thunder, and all things made by God’s power. The chorus answers, “Roho yangu na ikuimbie, jinsi wewe ulivyo mkuu” (let my soul sing to You how great You are).
The second verse turns to walking through the world, hearing birds sing, seeing beautiful mountains, and enjoying the wind. The third finds it hard to grasp that God sent His Son to die and bear sin. The final verse looks ahead to Jesus returning to take the singer to heaven, where praise will continue forever so that all may know who God is.
