Meaning & Inspiration
E' Mungu Mwenye Haki is a Swahili hymn-style prayer that asks God to guide and expresses hope of heaven. The opening asks the righteous God to lead the singer in all things that please Him, admitting that without Him fear and anxiety bring trembling, and it says that it is always better to rely on Jesus and walk in His footsteps because He is a shepherd who guides well.
The next verses speak of a road toward heaven where the Savior waits, with a promise to rejoice on the day of arrival at seeing the one who purchased the singer. They also describe the troubles and weariness of this world, and the hope of receiving a reward on the great day, when there will be no more enemies in heaven. The final section pictures lifting the voice to say hallelujah and waving the hands with joy. The shepherd image matches Psalm 23:1-3 and John 10:11, the hope of reward fits 2 Timothy 4:8, and the end of enemies and tears is in Revelation 21:4.
