Lyrics

Verse 1

Nilipofika Golgotha
Nikaiona huko
Neema kubwa kama mto
Neema ya ajabu

Chorus (x3)

Neema ya Golgotha
Ni kama bahari kubwa
Neema tele na ya milele
Neema ya kutosha
Neema ya Golgotha
Ni kama bahari kubwa
Neema tele na ya milele
Neema ya kutosha

Verse 2

Nilipofika moyo wangu
Ulilemewa sana
Sikufaamu bado vema
Neema yake kubwa

Verse 3

Nilipoona kwamba Yesu
Alichukua dhambi
Neema ikadhihirika
Na moyo ukapona

Verse 4

Mbinguni nitakapofika
Furaha itakuwa
Kuimba juu ya neema
Milele na milele

Meaning & Inspiration

“Neema ya Golgotha” by PaPi Clever & Dorcas is a Swahili worship song about the grace found at the cross. The first verse says that on reaching Golgotha, the singer saw great grace, like a river, and a wonderful grace. The chorus describes that grace as “kama bahari kubwa,” like a great sea, abundant, eternal, and enough.

The second verse says the singer’s heart was overwhelmed and did not yet understand His great grace. The third verse turns to the moment of seeing that Jesus took away sin, after which grace was revealed and the heart was healed. This is close to Isaiah 53:5 and Romans 5:20, where grace abounds.

The last verse looks ahead to heaven, where there will be joy in singing of grace forever. The outro repeats the chorus many times. The song is a simple, grateful meditation on the cross.
