Essence of Worship - Bwana Waweza Lyrics
Lyrics
Bwana wewe waweza
Kufanya zaidi ya tuombavyo
Tena wewe waweza
Kutenda zaidi ya tuwazavyo
Kadiri ya iyo nguvu
Itendayo kazi ndani yangu
Bwana wewe waweza
Kufanya zaidi ya tuombavyo
Tena wewe waweza
Kutenda zaidi ya tuwazavyo
Kadiri ya iyo nguvu
Itendayo kazi ndani yangu
Nguvu zote ni zako
Mamlaka yote ni yako
Nguvu zote ni zako
Mamlaka yote ni yako
Ukisema jambo hakuna wa kupinga
Milele yote waweza
Ukisema jambo hakuna wa kupinga
Milele yote waweza
Bwana wewe waweza
Waweza waweza milele
Bwana wewe waweza
Waweza waweza milele
Kwa imani Bwana
Napokea mambo ya rohoni
Kwa imani Bwana
Nayaweza mambo yote
Katika wewe Bwana Yesu

Meaning & Inspiration
I was listening to Bwana Waweza, released back in 2021, and that opening line just stopped me. It’s pulling straight from Ephesians, isn’t it? That part about God doing more than we ask or imagine. It feels wild to actually sit with that—that His capacity isn’t limited by my limited, tired imagination. When the lyrics talk about that power working inside us, I keep thinking about how Paul describes the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead living in us. It makes me feel small, but in a way that’s actually steadying.
Then it moves into talking about His authority, saying that when He speaks, no one can stop it. It’s heavy, almost daunting, but it settles something in me. I’m trying to reconcile that with the chaos I see every day. If He really is the one who speaks and nothing can stand against it, then why does it feel like things are so broken? But maybe that’s just my perspective—my eyes are on the dirt, and the song is trying to pull my head up to look at the throne.
The part that really stuck with me toward the end is when it says, "I am able to do all things through You." It sounds like a declaration, but I have to be careful with that. Is it just me claiming strength, or is it actually tethered to the reality of Him? If it’s just me, it’s just empty talk, but if it’s truly in Him, then it’s actually a promise. I’m still wrestling with whether I’m just using that as a comfort or if I’m actually living like I believe that His authority is the only thing that matters. It’s one thing to sing it when the music is playing, and a totally different thing to hold onto that when I’m actually feeling powerless. I wonder if I’m really letting that power work, or if I’m just waiting for things to get easier.
