About Rose Muhando

Rose Muhando is a prominent Tanzanian gospel singer, songwriter, and choreographer. She was born on 29 July 1976 in Kilosa, Morogoro, Tanzania. A former Muslim, she converted to Christianity after reporting a vision of Jesus Christ at age nine. She began her career as a choir teacher at the Chimuli Anglican Church in Dodoma. Her debut album, Uwe Macho, was released in 2004.

Muhando went on to release several albums that became a staple of her catalog, including Jipange Sawasawa (2008), Utamu Wa Yesu (2012), Kamata Pindo La Yesu (2014), Miamba Imepasuka (2020), Secret Agenda (2022), and Amefanya (2024). The song “Nibebe” also appeared in 2008. In 2011, she signed a multi-album recording deal with Sony Music, becoming the first gospel artist in East and Central Africa to do so.

Her work earned her early recognition at the 2005 Tanzania Music Awards, where she won Best Female Vocalist and Best Religious Song for “Mteule uwe macho.” In 2008, she received the Kenya Groove Award for Best Female Gospel Artist in Africa. More recently, she was named Best Praise Artist of The Year in East Africa at the 2025 East Africa Gospel Music Awards and received an Honorary ICON AWARD at the 2025 Tanzania Gospel Music Awards. She is a mother of three children.
