Hata ikawa, Yerusalemu ulipotwaliwa, (katika mwaka wa kenda wa Sedekia, mfalme wa Yuda, katika mwezi wa kumi, Nebukadreza, mfalme wa Babeli, na jeshi lake lote, wakaja juu ya Yerusalemu, wakauhusuru;
In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon marched against Jerusalem with his entire army and laid siege to the city.

katika mwaka wa kumi na mmoja wa Sedekia, mwezi wa nne, siku ya kenda ya mwezi, sehemu ya ukuta wa mji ilibomolewa;)
And on the ninth day of the fourth month of Zedekiah’s eleventh year, the city was breached.

wakuu wote wa mfalme wa Babeli wakaingia, wakaketi katika lango la katikati, yaani, Nergal-Shareza, mnyweshaji, Nebu-Sarseki, mkuu wa matowashi, Nergal-Shareza, mkuu wa wanajimu, pamoja na wakuu wengine wote wa mfalme wa Babeli.
Then all the officials of the king of Babylon entered and sat in the Middle Gate: Nergal-sharezer of Samgar, Nebo-sarsekim the Rabsaris, Nergal-sharezer the Rabmag, and all the rest of the officials of the king of Babylon.

Ikawa Sedekia, mfalme wa Yuda, na watu wote wa vita walipowaona, ndipo wakakimbia, wakatoka mjini usiku, kwa njia ya bustani ya mfalme, kwa lango lililokuwa kati ya zile kuta mbili; naye akatoka kwa njia ya Araba.
When Zedekiah king of Judah and all the soldiers saw them, they fled. They left the city at night by way of the king’s garden, through the gate between the two walls, and they went out along the route to the Arabah.

Lakini jeshi la Wakaldayo wakawafuatia, wakampata Sedekia katika nchi tambarare ya Yeriko; nao walipomkamata, wakamleta kwa Nebukadreza, mfalme wa Babeli, huko Ribla katika nchi ya Hamathi, naye akatoa hukumu juu yake.
But the army of the Chaldeans pursued them and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. They seized him and brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he pronounced judgment on him.

Ndipo mfalme wa Babeli akawaua wana wa Sedekia huko Ribla mbele ya macho yake; pia mfalme wa Babeli akawaua wakuu wote wa Yuda.
There at Riblah the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and he also killed all the nobles of Judah.

Pamoja na hayo akampofusha macho Sedekia, akamfunga kwa pingu ili amchukue mpaka Babeli.
Then he put out Zedekiah’s eyes and bound him with bronze chains to take him to Babylon.

Nao Wakaldayo wakaiteketeza nyumba ya mfalme, na nyumba za watu kwa moto, wakazibomoa kuta za Yerusalemu.
The Chaldeans set fire to the palace of the king and to the houses of the people, and they broke down the walls of Jerusalem.

Basi, Nebuzaradani, amiri wa askari walinzi, akawachukua mateka mabaki ya watu waliosalia katika mji mpaka Babeli, na hao pia waliouacha mji na kujiunga naye, na mabaki ya watu waliosalia.
Then Nebuzaradan captain of the guard carried away to Babylon the remnant of the people who had remained in the city, along with the deserters who had defected to him.

Lakini Nebuzaradani, amiri wa askari walinzi, akawaacha baadhi ya maskini wa watu, waliokuwa hawana kitu, katika nchi ya Yuda, akawapa mashamba ya mizabibu na makonde wakati uo huo.
But Nebuzaradan left behind in the land of Judah some of the poor people who had no property, and at that time he gave them vineyards and fields.

Basi Nebukadreza, mfalme wa Babeli, akamwagiza Nebuzaradani, amiri wa askari walinzi, katika habari za Yeremia, akisema,
Now Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had given orders about Jeremiah through Nebuzaradan captain of the guard, saying,

Mtwae, umtunze sana, wala usimtende neno baya lo lote; lakini umtendee kama atakavyokuambia.
“Take him, look after him, and do not let any harm come to him; do for him whatever he says.”

Basi Nebuzaradani, amiri wa askari walinzi, na Nebu-Shazbani, mkuu wa matowashi, na Nergal-Shareza, mkuu wa wanajimu, na maakida wakuu wote wa mfalme wa Babeli.
So Nebuzaradan captain of the guard, Nebushazban the Rabsaris, Nergal-sharezer the Rabmag, and all the captains of the king of Babylon

wakatuma watu wakamwondoa Yeremia katika uwanda wa walinzi, wakamweka katika mikono ya Gedalia, mwana wa Ahikamu, mwana wa Shafani, ili ampeleke nyumbani kwake; basi akakaa pamoja na hao watu.
had Jeremiah brought from the courtyard of the guard, and they turned him over to Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, to take him home. So Jeremiah remained among his own people.

Basi neno la Bwana likamjia Yeremia, wakati ule alipokuwa amefungwa katika uwanda wa walinzi, kusema,
And while Jeremiah had been confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the LORD had come to him:

Haya! Enenda ukaseme na Ebedmeleki, Mkushi, kusema, Bwana wa majeshi, Mungu wa Israeli, asema hivi, Tazama, nitaupatiliza mji huu maneno yangu kwa mabaya, wala si kwa mema; nayo yatatimizwa mbele yako katika siku hiyo.
“Go and tell Ebed-melech the Cushite that this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘I am about to fulfill My words against this city for harm and not for good, and on that day they will be fulfilled before your eyes.

Lakini nitakuokoa wewe katika siku hiyo, asema Bwana; wala hutatiwa katika mikono ya watu wale unaowaogopa.
But I will deliver you on that day, declares the LORD, and you will not be delivered into the hands of the men whom you fear.
18
Kwa maana ni yakini, nitakuokoa, wala hutaanguka kwa upanga, lakini nafsi yako itakuwa kama nyara kwako; kwa kuwa ulinitumaini mimi, asema Bwana.
For I will surely rescue you so that you do not fall by the sword. Because you have trusted in Me, you will escape with your life like a spoil of war, declares the LORD.’”
