This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD:

Yasikieni maneno ya maagano haya; ukaseme na watu wa Yuda, na wenyeji wa Yerusalemu;
“Listen to the words of this covenant and tell them to the men of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem.

ukawaambie, Bwana, Mungu wa Israeli, asema hivi, Na alaaniwe mtu asiyeyasikia maneno ya maagano haya,
You must tell them that this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Cursed is the man who does not obey the words of this covenant,

niliyowaamuru baba zenu, siku ile nilipowatoa katika nchi ya Misri, katika tanuru ya chuma, nikisema, Itiini sauti yangu, mkafanye sawasawa na yote niwaagizayo ninyi; ndivyo mtakavyokuwa watu wangu, nami nitakuwa Mungu wenu;
which I commanded your forefathers when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace, saying, ‘Obey Me, and do everything I command you, and you will be My people, and I will be your God.’

ili nipate kukitimiza kiapo nilichowaapia baba zenu, kuwapa nchi ijaayo maziwa na asali, kama ilivyo leo hivi. Ndipo nikajibu, nikasema, Amina, Ee Bwana.
This was in order to establish the oath I swore to your forefathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is to this day.” “Amen, LORD,” I answered.

Naye Bwana akaniambia, Hubiri maneno haya yote katika miji ya Yuda, na katika njia kuu za Yerusalemu, ukisema, Yasikieni maneno ya maagano haya, mkayafanye.
Then the LORD said to me, “Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying: Hear the words of this covenant and carry them out.

Kwa maana naliwashuhudia sana baba zenu, siku ile nilipowatoa katika nchi ya Misri, hata leo, nikiamka mapema na kuwashuhudia, nikisema, Itiini sauti yangu.
For from the time I brought your fathers out of the land of Egypt until today, I strongly warned them again and again, saying, ‘Obey My voice.’

Lakini hawakutii, wala kutega masikio yao, bali walikwenda kila mtu katika ushupavu wa moyo wake mbaya; kwa hiyo nimeleta juu yao maneno yote ya maagano haya, niliyowaamuru wayafanye; lakini hawakuyafanya.
Yet they would not obey or incline their ears, but each one followed the stubbornness of his evil heart. So I brought on them all the curses of this covenant I had commanded them to follow but they did not keep.”

Naye Bwana akaniambia, Fitina imeonekana katika watu wa Yuda, na katika wenyeji wa Yerusalemu.
And the LORD told me, “There is a conspiracy among the men of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem.

Wameyarudia maovu ya baba zao, waliokataa kusikia maneno yangu; wamewafuata miungu mingine na kuwatumikia; nyumba ya Israeli, na nyumba ya Yuda, wameyavunja maagano yangu niliyoyafanya na baba zao.
They have returned to the sins of their forefathers who refused to obey My words. They have followed other gods to serve them. The house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken the covenant I made with their fathers.

Basi, Bwana asema hivi, Tazama, nitaleta mabaya juu yao, ambayo hawataweza kuyakimbia; nao watanililia, walakini sitawasikiliza.
Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘I am about to bring upon them a disaster that they cannot escape. They will cry out to Me, but I will not listen to them.

Ndipo miji ya Yuda, na wenyeji wa Yerusalemu, watakwenda na kuwalilia miungu wawafukiziao uvumba; lakini hawatawaokoa hata kidogo wakati wa taabu yao.
Then the cities of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem will go and cry out to the gods to which they have been burning incense, but these gods certainly will not save them in their time of disaster.

Maana hesabu ya miungu yako, Ee Yuda, ni sawasawa na hesabu ya miji yako; na kama ilivyo hesabu ya njia za Yerusalemu, ndivyo mlivyosimamisha madhabahu za kitu kile cha aibu, madhabahu za kumfukizia Baali uvumba.
Your gods are indeed as numerous as your cities, O Judah; the altars of shame you have set up—the altars to burn incense to Baal—are as many as the streets of Jerusalem.’

Basi, usiwaombee watu hawa, wala usipaze sauti yako, wala kuwaombea dua watu hawa; maana sitawasikia wakati watakaponililia kwa ajili ya taabu yao.
As for you, do not pray for these people. Do not raise up a cry or a prayer on their behalf, for I will not be listening when they call out to Me in their time of disaster.

Mpenzi wangu afanya nini nyumbani mwangu, ikiwa amefanya uasherati? Je! Nadhiri zako na nyama takatifu zitakuondolea hatia? Ufanyapo maovu, ndipo uonapo furaha.
What right has My beloved in My house, having carried out so many evil schemes? Can consecrated meat avert your doom? When you are wicked, then you rejoice.

Bwana alikuita jina lako, Mzeituni wenye majani mabichi, mzuri, wenye matunda mema; kwa kelele za mshindo mkuu amewasha moto juu yake, na matawi yake yamevunjika.
The LORD once called you a flourishing olive tree, beautiful with well-formed fruit. But with a mighty roar He will set it on fire, and its branches will be consumed.

Kwa maana Bwana wa majeshi, aliyekupanda, ametamka mabaya juu yako, kwa sababu ya maovu ya nyumba ya Israeli, na ya nyumba ya Yuda, waliyoyatenda juu ya nafsi zao wenyewe kwa kunikasirisha, wakimfukizia Baali uvumba.
The LORD of Hosts, who planted you, has decreed disaster against you on account of the evil that the house of Israel and the house of Judah have brought upon themselves, provoking Me to anger by burning incense to Baal.”

Tena Bwana akanijulisha haya, nami nikayajua; ndipo uliponionyesha matendo yao.
And the LORD informed me, so I knew. Then You showed me their deeds.
19
Lakini mimi nalikuwa kama mwana-kondoo mpole, achukuliwaye kwenda kuchinjwa; wala sikujua ya kuwa wamefanya mashauri kinyume changu, wakisema, Na tuuharibu mti pamoja na matunda yake, na tumkatilie mbali atoke katika nchi ya walio hai, ili jina lake lisikumbukwe tena.
For I was like a gentle lamb led to slaughter; I did not know that they had plotted against me: “Let us destroy the tree with its fruit; let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be remembered no more.”

Lakini, Ee Bwana wa majeshi, uhukumuye haki, ujaribuye viuno na moyo, nijalie kuona kisasi chako juu yao; kwa maana nimekufunulia wewe neno langu.
O LORD of Hosts, who judges righteously, who examines the heart and mind, let me see Your vengeance upon them, for to You I have committed my cause.

Basi, kwa hiyo, Bwana asema hivi, juu ya watu wa Anathothi, watakao uhai wako, wakisema, Hutafanya unabii kwa jina la Bwana, usije ukafa kwa mkono wetu.
Therefore this is what the LORD says concerning the people of Anathoth who are seeking your life and saying, “You must not prophesy in the name of the LORD, or you will die by our hand.”

Kwa sababu hiyo Bwana wa majeshi asema hivi, Tazama, nitawaadhibu watu hawa; vijana watakufa kwa upanga; wana wao na binti zao watakufa kwa njaa;
So this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “I will punish them. Their young men will die by the sword, their sons and daughters by famine.

wala hapatakuwa na mtu atakayesalia kwao; maana nitaleta mabaya juu ya watu wa Anathothi, mwaka wa kujiliwa kwao.
There will be no remnant, for I will bring disaster on the people of Anathoth in the year of their punishment.”
