About Upendo Nkone

Upendo Nkone is a Tanzanian gospel singer and songwriter whose music carries messages of faith and hope.

Born in Bitale, Kigoma, Tanzania, her musical journey began when she joined the KGWC choir in Kigoma. She later moved to Dar es Salaam and became a member of the Dovya Gospel Singers, gaining further experience before launching her solo career. Nkone released her debut album, Jina la Mungu Baba, in 2009.

Her songs often focus on themes of hope for the underprivileged, including orphans and widows. She is known for her vocal style and for incorporating traditional African rhythms into her music. Her growing catalog includes albums such as Hapa Nilipo, Tunae Mungu Anaeishi, Usalama Wangu, and Utabaki Na Mimi. Among her recorded songs are “Usifurahi Juu Yangu,” “Upendo Wa Yesu,” and “Yesu Nakupenda.”
