Lyrics

Dhamira yangu Kujua
Nina wewe Yesu
Dhamira yangu Kujua
Nina wewe Yesu
Asubuhi, mchana wote
Jioni hata usiku
Kwenye hali zote
Nitembee na wewe
Oh Baba, Oh Yesu  .

Wewe ni kiu yangu
Njaa ya moyo wangu
Wewe ni Mungu wangu
Mfalme wa moyo wangu  .

Nitakase, nifundishe
Niongoze, nifinyange  .

Kama ayala ayatamanivyo maji
Ndivyo moyo wangu una zaidi wa kutamani
Oh Baba yangu, ninashuka mbele zako
Mapenzi yako yatimizwe maishani mwangu Yesu
Usipolinda wewe mji walindao wanafanya kazi bure
Usipojenga wewe mji wajengao wafanya kazi bure
Nakutamani Yesu zaidi maishani mwangu  .

Wewe ni kiu yangu
Njaa ya moyo wangu
Wewe ni Mungu wangu
Mfalme wa moyo wangu  .

Wewe ni kiu yangu
Njaa ya moyo wangu
Wewe ni Mungu wangu
Mfalme wa moyo wangu  .

Nitakase, nifundishe
Niongoze, nifinyange  .

Meaning & Inspiration

“Kiu Yangu” presents closeness to Jesus as the defining desire of the singer’s life. Morning, afternoon, evening, and night form a complete daily rhythm in which fellowship with Christ is sought in every circumstance. The repeated images of thirst and hunger express dependence rather than passing emotion, while the prayers for cleansing, teaching, guidance, and shaping place that desire within willing surrender.

Several lines closely echo biblical language. The comparison with a deer longing for water recalls Psalm 42:1, and the confession that builders and guards labor in vain without God draws directly from Psalm 127:1. These echoes reinforce the lyric’s request that God’s will be fulfilled in the singer’s life. Jesus is named as God and king of the heart, so the song joins longing with allegiance. Its repetition keeps attention on a simple prayer: that every part of life remain under Christ’s direction and sustained by his presence.
