Lyrics

Yote ya dhamani kwangu ni wewe

Nakupenda bwana yesu

Umechaza moyo wangu na furaha

Nakupenda bwana yesu

Maisha yangu ni bure bila wewe

Bila wewe ni kifo

Ni wewe jiwe nguzo ya uzima wangu

Bila wewe sifai

Nakupenda bwana yesu

Nakupendaa Yesu

Nimekuchagua

Nimekuchagua uwe wangu milele

Ndani ya wengi

Macho yangu yamekuona sitaki mwengine

Nimekuchagua pekee yako

Ndiye moyo umependa sitaki mwengine

Nimekuchagua pekee yako

Ndani ya wengi

Macho yangu yamekuona sitaki mwengine

Nimekuchagua pekee yako

Ndiye moyo umependa sitaki mwengine

Nimekuchagua pekee yako

Bwana Yesu

Yesu

Mwokozi wangu, tegemeo langu

Yesu Yesu

Wewe ndiwe wangu

Yesu Yesu Yesu Yesu

Wewe ndiwe wangu

Nakupenda bwana yesu

Nakupendaa Yesu

Nimekuchagua

Nimekuchagua uwe wangu milele

Ndani ya wengi

Macho yangu yamekuona sitaki mwengine

Nimekuchagua pekee yako

Ndiye moyo umependa sitaki mwengine

Nimekuchagua pekee yako

Meaning & Inspiration

“Nakupenda” is a Swahili confession of love for Jesus, describing him as the singer’s greatest treasure, source of joy, Savior, and support. The declaration that life is empty without him gives the song a devotional focus rather than a romantic one. Its repeated choice of Jesus above all others portrays allegiance that is personal, exclusive, and enduring.

The image of Jesus as the stone and pillar of life suggests dependence on a firm foundation. This idea aligns closely with 1 Peter 2:4–6, which presents Christ as the chosen cornerstone, while the language of choosing the one the soul loves recalls the longing expressed in Psalm 73:25–26. Repeated phrases such as “Nakupenda Bwana Yesu” and “Nimekuchagua” turn the lyrics into a sustained prayer of affection and commitment. Joy, reliance, and confession meet in a worship song that names Jesus as the one who gives life its worth and remains the singer’s lasting hope.
