“Hakuna Rafiki Kama Yesu” (There is no friend like Jesus) by Christina Shusho is a Swahili worship song built on the repeated line “Hakuna rafiki kama Yesu, yu pekee,” meaning there is no friend like Jesus, he alone. The song draws on the hymn text from Tenzi za Rohoni, number 44, and it states that Jesus knows our troubles and is able to guide us.
The verses answer a series of questions with the word “hakuna” (there is none). There is no other physician of the soul, no darkness that can separate the believer from him, no one he forgets, and no sinner he refuses to love.
