Alipokwisha kuyamaliza maneno yake yote masikioni mwa watu, aliingia Kapernaumu.
When Jesus had concluded His discourse in the hearing of the people, He went to Capernaum.

Na mtumwa wake akida mmoja alikuwa hawezi, karibu na kufa; naye ni mtu aliyempenda sana.
There a highly valued servant of a centurion was sick and about to die.

Aliposikia habari za Yesu, alituma wazee wa Wayahudi kwake kumwomba aje amponye mtumwa wake.
When the centurion heard about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders to ask Him to come and heal his servant.

Nao walipofika kwa Yesu, walimsihi sana wakisema, Amestahili huyu umtendee neno hili;
They came to Jesus and pleaded with Him earnestly, “This man is worthy to have You grant this,

maana, analipenda taifa letu, naye alitujengea sinagogi.
for he loves our nation and has built our synagogue.”

Basi Yesu akaenda pamoja nao. Hata alipokuwa si mbali na nyumba yake, yule akida alituma rafiki kwake, akamwambia, Bwana, usijisumbue, maana mimi sistahili wewe uingie chini ya dari yangu;
So Jesus went with them. But when He was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends with the message: “Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy to have You come under my roof.

kwa hiyo nilijiona sistahili mwenyewe kuja kwako; lakini, sema neno tu, na mtumwa wangu atapona.
That is why I did not consider myself worthy to come to You. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.

Kwa maana mimi nami ni mtu niliyewekwa chini ya mamlaka, mwenye askari chini yangu; nikimwambia huyu, Nenda, huenda; na huyu, Njoo, huja; na mtumwa wangu, Fanya hivi, hufanya.
For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell one to go, and he goes, and another to come, and he comes. I tell my servant to do something, and he does it.”

Yesu aliposikia hayo alimstaajabia, akaugeukia mkutano uliokuwa ukimfuata, akasema, Nawaambia, hata katika Israeli sijaona imani kubwa namna hii.
When Jesus heard this, He marveled at the centurion. Turning to the crowd following Him, He said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith.”

Na wale waliotumwa waliporudi nyumbani, wakamkuta yule mtumwa ni mzima.
And when the messengers returned to the house, they found the servant in good health.
11
Baadaye kidogo alikwenda mpaka mji mmoja uitwao Naini, na wanafunzi wake walifuatana naye pamoja na mkutano mkubwa.
Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain. His disciples went with Him, accompanied by a large crowd.

Na alipolikaribia lango la mji, hapo palikuwa na maiti anachukuliwa nje, ni mwana pekee wa mamaye ambaye ni mjane, na watu wa mjini wengi walikuwa pamoja naye.
As He approached the town gate, He saw a dead man being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her.

Bwana alipomwona alimwonea huruma, akamwambia, Usilie.
When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said, “Do not weep.”

Akakaribia, akaligusa jeneza; wale waliokuwa wakilichukua wakasimama. Akasema, Kijana, nakuambia, Inuka.
Then He went up and touched the coffin, and those carrying it stood still. “Young man,” He said, “I tell you, get up!”

Yule maiti akainuka, akaketi, akaanza kusema. Akampa mama yake.
And the dead man sat up and began to speak! Then Jesus gave him back to his mother.
16
Hofu ikawashika wote, wakamtukuza Mungu, wakisema, Nabii mkuu ametokea kwetu; na, Mungu amewaangalia watu wake.
A sense of awe swept over all of them, and they glorified God. “A great prophet has appeared among us!” they said. “God has visited His people!”

Habari hii yake ikaenea katika Uyahudi wote, na katika nchi zote za kando kando.
And the news about Jesus spread throughout Judea and all the surrounding region.

Wanafunzi wa Yohana wakamletea habari za hayo yote.
Then John’s disciples informed him about all these things.

Ndipo Yohana alipowaita wawili katika wanafunzi wake, akawatuma kwa Yesu akiuliza, Wewe ndiwe yule ajaye, au tumtazamie mwingine?
So John called two of his disciples and sent them to ask the Lord, “Are You the One who was to come, or should we look for someone else?”

Nao walipofika kwake, walisema, Yohana Mbatizaji ametutuma kwako, akisema, Wewe ndiwe yule ajaye, au tumtazamie mwingine?
When the men came to Jesus, they said, “John the Baptist sent us to ask, ‘Are You the One who was to come, or should we look for someone else?’”

Na saa ile ile aliwaponya wengi magonjwa yao, na misiba, na pepo wabaya; na vipofu wengi aliwakirimia kuona.
At that very hour Jesus healed many people of their diseases, afflictions, and evil spirits, and He gave sight to many who were blind.
22
Ndipo alipojibu, akawaambia, Nendeni mkamweleze Yohana hayo mliyoyaona na kuyasikia; vipofu wanapata kuona, viwete wanatembea, wenye ukoma wanatakasika, viziwi wanasikia, wafu wanafufuliwa, maskini wanahubiriwa habari njema.
So He replied, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor.

Naye heri mtu ye yote asiyechukizwa nami.
Blessed is the one who does not fall away on account of Me.”

Basi, wajumbe wa Yohana walipokwisha ondoka, alianza kuwaambia makutano habari za Yohana, Mlitoka kwenda nyikani kutazama nini? Unyasi ukitikiswa na upepo?
After John’s messengers had left, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swaying in the wind?

Lakini mlitoka kwenda kuona nini? Mtu aliyevikwa mavazi mororo? Jueni, watu wenye mavazi ya utukufu, wanaokula raha, wamo katika majumba ya kifalme.
Otherwise, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? Look, those who wear elegant clothing and live in luxury are found in palaces.

Lakini, mlitoka kwenda kuona nini? Nabii? Naam, nawaambia, na aliye zaidi ya nabii.
What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.
27
Huyo ndiye aliyeandikiwa haya, Tazama, namtuma mjumbe wangu Mbele ya uso wako, Atakayeitengeneza njia yako mbele yako.
This is the one about whom it is written: ‘Behold, I will send My messenger ahead of You, who will prepare Your way before You.’

Nami nawaambia, Katika wale waliozaliwa na wanawake hakuna aliye mkuu kuliko Yohana; lakini aliye mdogo katika ufalme wa Mungu ni mkuu kuliko yeye.
I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John, yet even the least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”

Na watu wote na watoza ushuru waliposikia hayo, waliikiri haki ya Mungu, kwa kuwa wamebatizwa kwa ubatizo wa Yohana.
All the people who heard this, even the tax collectors, acknowledged God’s justice. For they had received the baptism of John.

Lakini, Mafarisayo na wana-sheria walilipinga shauri la Mungu juu yao, kwa kuwa hawakubatizwa naye.
But the Pharisees and experts in the law rejected God’s purpose for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John.
31
Bwana akasema, Niwafananishe na nini watu wa kizazi hiki? Nao wamefanana na nini?
“To what, then, can I compare the men of this generation? What are they like?

Wamefanana na watoto walioketi sokoni na kuitana, wakisema, Tuliwapigia filimbi wala hamkucheza; tuliomboleza, wala hamkulia.
They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling out to one another: ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not weep.’

Kwa kuwa Yohana Mbatizaji alikuja, hali mkate wala hanywi divai, nanyi mwasema, Ana pepo.
For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon!’

Mwana wa Adamu amekuja, anakula na kunywa; nanyi mwasema, Tazama, mlafi huyu, na mnywaji wa divai, rafiki wao watoza ushuru na wenye dhambi.
The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at this glutton and drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’

Na hekima imejulikana kuwa ina haki kwa watoto wake wote.
But wisdom is vindicated by all her children.”

Mtu mmoja katika Mafarisayo alimwalika ale chakula kwake; akaingia katika nyumba yake yule Farisayo, akaketi chakulani.
Then one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to eat with him, and He entered the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table.
37
Na tazama, mwanamke mmoja wa mji ule, aliyekuwa mwenye dhambi, alipopata habari ya kuwa ameketi chakulani katika nyumba ya yule Farisayo, alileta chupa ya marimari yenye marhamu.
When a sinful woman from that town learned that Jesus was dining there, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume.

Akasimama nyuma karibu na miguu yake, akilia, akaanza kumdondoshea miguu machozi yake, na kuipangusa kwa nywele za kichwa chake, akiibusu-busu miguu yake na kuipaka yale marhamu.
As she stood behind Him at His feet weeping, she began to wet His feet with her tears and wipe them with her hair. Then she kissed His feet and anointed them with the perfume.

Basi, yule Farisayo aliyemwalika alipoona vile, alisema moyoni mwake, Mtu huyu kama angekuwa nabii, angemtambua mwanamke huyu amgusaye, ni nani, naye ni wa namna gani, ya kwamba ni mwenye dhambi.
When the Pharisee who had invited Jesus saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, He would know who this is and what kind of woman is touching Him—for she is a sinner!”

Yesu akajibu akamwambia, Simoni, nina neno nitakalo kukuambia. Akasema, Mwalimu, nena.
But Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” “Tell me, Teacher,” he said.

Akasema, Mtu mmoja mkopeshaji alikuwa na wadeni wawili; mmoja amwia dinari mia tano, na wa pili hamsini.
“Two men were debtors to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.
42
Nao walipokuwa hawana cha kumlipa, aliwasamehe wote wawili. Katika hao wawili ni yupi atakayempenda zaidi?
When they were unable to repay him, he forgave both of them. Which one, then, will love him more?”
43
Simoni akajibu akasema, Nadhani ni yule ambaye alimsamehe nyingi. Akamwambia, Umeamua haki.
“I suppose the one who was forgiven more,” Simon replied. “You have judged correctly,” Jesus said.
44
Akamgeukia yule mwanamke, akamwambia Simoni, Wamwona mwanamke huyu? Niliingia nyumbani kwako, hukunipa maji kwa miguu yangu; bali huyu amenidondoshea machozi miguu yangu, na kuipangusa kwa nywele za kichwa chake.
And turning toward the woman, He said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? When I entered your house, you did not give Me water for My feet, but she wet My feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.

Wewe hukunibusu; lakini huyu tangu nilipoingia hakuacha kunibusu sana miguu yangu.
You did not greet Me with a kiss, but she has not stopped kissing My feet since I arrived.
46
Hukunipaka kichwa changu mafuta; bali huyu amenipaka miguu yangu marhamu.
You did not anoint My head with oil, but she has anointed My feet with perfume.
47
Kwa ajili ya hayo nakuambia, Amesamehewa dhambi zake ambazo ni nyingi, kwa kuwa amependa sana; lakini asamehewaye kidogo, huyo hupenda kidogo.
Therefore I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven, for she has loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little.”

Kisha alimwambia mwanamke, Umesamehewa dhambi zako.
Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
49
Ndipo wale walioketi chakulani pamoja naye walianza kusema mioyoni mwao, Ni nani huyu hata asamehe dhambi?
But those at the table began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”
50
Akamwambia yule mwanamke, Imani yako imekuokoa, enenda zako kwa amani.
And Jesus told the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
