Mwaka wa kumi na nane wa mfalme Yeroboamu mwana wa Nebati, Abiya alianza kutawala juu ya Yuda.
In the eighteenth year of the reign of Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijam became king of Judah,

Miaka mitatu akatawala huko Yerusalemu; na jina la mamaye aliitwa Maaka, binti Absalomu.
and he reigned in Jerusalem three years. His mother’s name was Maacah daughter of Abishalom.

Akaziendea dhambi zote za babaye, alizozifanya kabla yake; wala moyo wake haukuwa mkamilifu na Bwana, Mungu wake, kama moyo wa Daudi babaye.
And Abijam walked in all the sins that his father before him had committed, and his heart was not as fully devoted to the LORD his God as the heart of David his forefather had been.

Walakini kwa ajili ya Daudi, Bwana, Mungu wake, akampa taa humo Yerusalemu, amwinue mwanawe baada yake, na kuufanya imara Yerusalemu;
Nevertheless, for the sake of David, the LORD his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem by raising up a son to succeed him and to make Jerusalem strong.

kwa sababu Daudi alifanya yaliyo mema machoni pa Bwana, wala hakukosa katika yote aliyomwamuru, siku zote za maisha yake, isipokuwa katika habari ya Uria, Mhiti.
For David had done what was right in the eyes of the LORD and had not turned aside from anything the LORD commanded all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

Basi kulikuwa na vita kati ya Rehoboamu na Yeroboamu siku zote za maisha yake.
And there was war between the houses of Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of Abijam’s life.

Na mambo yote ya Abiya yaliyosalia, na yote aliyoyafanya, je! Hayakuandikwa katika kitabu-cha-tarehe cha wafalme wa Yuda? Kulikuwa na vita kati ya Abiya na Yeroboamu.
As for the rest of the acts of Abijam, along with all his accomplishments, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.

Abiya akalala na baba zake, wakamzika mjini mwa Daudi. Akatawala Asa mwanawe mahali pake.
And Abijam rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David, and his son Asa reigned in his place.

Mwaka wa ishirini wa Yeroboamu mfalme wa Israeli, Asa alianza kutawala juu ya Yuda.
In the twentieth year of Jeroboam’s reign over Israel, Asa became king of Judah,

Akatawala miaka arobaini na mmoja huko Yerusalemu; na jina la mamaye aliitwa Maaka, binti Absalomu.
and he reigned in Jerusalem forty-one years. His grandmother’s name was Maacah daughter of Abishalom.

Basi, Asa akafanya yaliyo mema machoni pa Mungu, kama alivyofanya babaye Daudi.
And Asa did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, as his father David had done.

Akawafukuza mahanithi katika nchi, akaziondoa sanamu zote walizozifanya baba zake.
He banished the male shrine prostitutes from the land and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

Hata na Maaka, mamaye, akamwondolea daraja yake asiwe malkia, kwa kuwa amefanya sanamu ya kuchukiza kwa Ashera; basi Asa akaikata sanamu yake akaiteketeza penye kijito cha Kidroni.
He also removed his grandmother Maacah from her position as queen mother because she had made a detestable Asherah pole. Asa chopped down the pole and burned it in the Kidron Valley.

Lakini mahali pa juu hapakuondoshwa; ila moyo wake Asa ulikuwa mkamilifu kwa Bwana siku zake zote.
The high places were not removed, but Asa’s heart was fully devoted to the LORD all his days.

Akavileta vile vitu alivyovitakasa baba yake, na vile alivyovitakasa yeye mwenyewe, katika nyumba ya Bwana, fedha; na dhahabu, na vyombo.
And he brought into the house of the LORD the silver and gold and the articles that he and his father had dedicated.

Kulikuwa na vita kati ya Asa na Baasha mfalme wa Israeli siku zao zote.
Now there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel throughout their days.
17
Kisha, Baasha mfalme wa Israeli akaondoka juu ya Yuda, akaujenga Rama, ili asimwache mtu ye yote kutoka wala kuingia kwa Asa mfalme wa Yuda.
Baasha king of Israel went to war against Judah and fortified Ramah to prevent anyone from leaving or entering the territory of Asa king of Judah.

Ndipo Asa akazitwaa fedha zote na dhahabu zilizosalia katika hazina za nyumba ya Bwana, na hazina za nyumba ya mfalme, akazitia mikononi mwa watumishi wake; mfalme Asa akawatuma kwa Ben-hadadi, mwana wa Tabrimoni, mwana wa Hezioni, mfalme wa Shamu, aliyekaa Dameski, akasema,
So Asa withdrew all the silver and gold that remained in the treasuries of the house of the LORD and the royal palace. He entrusted it to his servants and sent them with this message to Ben-hadad son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, the king of Aram, who was ruling in Damascus:

Tumepatana mimi nawe, na baba yangu na baba yako; angalia, nimekuletea zawadi, fedha na dhahabu; basi nenda, uyavunje mapatano yako na Baasha mfalme wa Israeli, ili aniondokee mimi.
“Let there be a treaty between me and you as there was between my father and your father. See, I have sent you a gift of silver and gold. Now go and break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, so that he will withdraw from me.”

Naye Ben-hadadi akamsikiliza mfalme Asa, akawatuma wakuu wa majeshi yake juu ya miji ya Israeli, akapiga Iyoni, na Dani, na Abel-beth-maaka na Kinerothi yote, na nchi yote ya Naftali.
And Ben-hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel, conquering Ijon, Dan, Abel-beth-maacah, and the whole land of Naphtali, including the region of Chinnereth.

Ikawa Baasha aliposikia habari hiyo akaacha kuujenga Rama, akaenda akakaa Tirza.
When Baasha learned of this, he stopped fortifying Ramah and withdrew to Tirzah.

Ndipo mfalme Asa akatangaza kwa Yuda pia; asiachiliwe mtu; nao wakayachukua mawe ya Rama na miti yake, aliyoijengea Baasha; naye mfalme Asa akajenga kwa vitu hivyo Geba wa Benyamini na Mispa.
Then King Asa summoned all the men of Judah, with no exceptions, and they carried away the stones of Ramah and the timbers Baasha had used for building. And with these materials King Asa built up Geba of Benjamin, as well as Mizpah.

Na mambo yote ya Asa yaliyosalia, na nguvu zake zote, na yote aliyoyafanya, na miji aliyoijenga, je! Hayakuandikwa katika kitabu-cha-tarehe cha wafalme wa Yuda? Lakini alipokuwa mzee alikuwa na ugonjwa wa miguu.
Now the rest of the acts of Asa, along with all his might, all his accomplishments, and the cities he built, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? In his old age, however, he became diseased in his feet.

Asa akalala na babaze, akazikwa pamoja na babaze mjini mwa Daudi baba yake. Na Yehoshafati mwanawe akatawala mahali pake.
And Asa rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the city of his father David, and his son Jehoshaphat reigned in his place.
25
Nadabu mwana wa Yeroboamu alianza kutawala juu ya Israeli, mwaka wa pili wa Asa mfalme wa Yuda, akatawala juu ya Israeli miaka miwili.
In the second year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Nadab son of Jeroboam became king of Israel, and he reigned two years.

Akafanya yaliyo mabaya machoni pa Bwana, akaiendea njia ya baba yake, na kosa lake alilowakosesha Israeli.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the way of his father and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit.
27
Basi Baasha wa Ahiya, wa mbari ya Isakari, akamfanyia fitina; Baasha akampiga huko Gibethoni ulio wa Wafilisti; kwani Nadabu na Israeli wote walikuwa wakiuhusuru Gibethoni.
Then Baasha son of Ahijah of the house of Issachar conspired against Nadab, and Baasha struck him down at Gibbethon of the Philistines while Nadab and all Israel were besieging the city.

Mwaka wa tatu wa Asa mfalme wa Yuda Baasha akamwua, akatawala mahali pake.
In the third year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Baasha killed Nadab and reigned in his place.

Ikawa mara alipotawala, akawapiga nyumba yote ya Yeroboamu. Hakumwachia Yeroboamu mwenye pumzi ye yote, hata alipomharibu sawasawa na neno la Bwana alilolinena kwa mtumishi wake Ahiya, Mshiloni;
As soon as Baasha became king, he struck down the entire household of Jeroboam. He did not leave to Jeroboam anyone who breathed, but destroyed them all according to the word that the LORD had spoken through His servant Ahijah the Shilonite,

kwa sababu ya makosa yake Yeroboamu aliyoyakosa, ambayo kwa hayo aliwakosesha Israeli; kwa sababu ya chukizo lake alilomchukiza Bwana, Mungu wa Israeli, hata kumghadhibisha.
because of the sins Jeroboam had committed and had caused Israel to commit, and because he had provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger.

Basi mambo yote ya Nadabu yaliyosalia, na yote aliyoyafanya, je! Hayakuandikwa katika kitabu-cha-tarehe cha wafalme wa Israeli?
As for the rest of the acts of Nadab, along with all his accomplishments, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

Kulikuwa na vita kati ya Asa na Baasha mfalme wa Israeli siku zao zote.
And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel throughout their days.
33
Katika mwaka wa tatu wa Asa mfalme wa Yuda, Baasha mwana wa Ahiya alianza kutawala juu ya Israeli wote huko Tirza, akatawala miaka ishirini na minne.
In the third year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Baasha son of Ahijah became king of all Israel, and he reigned in Tirzah twenty-four years.

Akafanya yaliyo mabaya machoni pa Bwana akaiendea njia ya Yeroboamu, na kosa lake ambalo kwa hilo aliwakosesha Israeli.
And Baasha did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the way of Jeroboam and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit.
