Part 1

Huu wimbo ni wimbo wa shukrani
Usikie Mungu wangu
Niseme nini kwako
Nilipe nini kwako
Sina cha kulipa mbele zako Mungu wangu
Huu wimbo ni shukurani ni shukurani kwako
Iyoo yoo yoo yo

Refrain

Nasema asante
Nasema asante
Nasema asante
Ewe Mungu wangu
(rudia *2)
Hakuna Mungu kama wewe
Hakuna Mungu kama wewe
Hakuna Mungu kama wewe
Ewe Mungu wangu
(rudia *2)

Part 2

Kwa kazi ya msalaba goligota uliniokota
Niseme nini mbele zako Bwana wangu nashukuru
Umenipa heshima umefuta aibu
Niseme nini mbele zako Baba nashukuru
Umekuwa wa kwanza umekuwa wa mwisho
Alfa Omega Baba niwewe

Meaning & Inspiration

“Nasema Asante” by Christopher Mwahangila is a Swahili song of thanksgiving. It begins by calling itself a song of gratitude and asks what can be said or repaid to God, since the singer has nothing to repay with. The refrain repeats “Nasema asante,” meaning “I say thank you,” and “Hakuna Mungu kama wewe,” meaning “There is no God like You.”

The second section turns to the cross: “Kwa kazi ya msalaba Golgotha uliniokota,” saying that through the work of the cross God picked the singer up. It adds that God has given honor and removed shame. This is close to Isaiah 61:7 and Romans 5:8. Another section calls God Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, which echoes Revelation 22:13.

The last verse speaks of restoration, saying that what was eaten has been restored and enemies placed under the singer’s feet. The song is a plain and grateful testimony in praise of God.
