Meaning & Inspiration
“Nimehesabu” by Christina Shusho is a Swahili song about counting up what God has done. The title means “I have counted,” and the chorus works through arithmetic words, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing, then reports the same result every time: “Ni wewe Yesu, ni wewe tu,” which means “It is You, Jesus, only You.” Nothing in the calculation points anywhere else.
The first verse remembers being brought out, illnesses healed, battles fought, and a long road walked. The habit of remembering is close to Psalm 103:2, which urges not forgetting the Lord’s benefits, and Psalm 40:5, which says His wonders are too many to count. The second verse asks who could do what the Lord has done or pay the price He paid.
It adds that the race is not won by the swift nor the battle by the strong, and that food does not always go to the wise, wording that echoes Ecclesiastes 9:11. The message is that every blessing, when added up, leads back to Jesus alone.
