Meaning & Inspiration
“Ngiyakuthanda” by Benjamin Dube is a Zulu and English worship song of love for the Holy Spirit and for God. The title means “I love you,” and the lyric alternates it with “Moya oyingcwele” (Holy Spirit), first as a call and response and then with “Siyakuthanda,” a plural form of the same declaration. The repetition lets a congregation sing the same words together.
The English section adds praise and honor, calling God worthy and saying “I love you with all my heart Lord.” It then turns to security, saying that nothing can separate the singer from God.
