Lyrics

Out of my belly
Shall flow rivers
Rivers of living waters
Iya iya eh

Out of my belly
Shall flow rivers
Rivers of living waters
Iya iya eh

La la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la la la la la la

Out of my belly
Shall flow rivers
Rivers of living waters
Iya iya eh

Out of my belly
Shall flow rivers
Rivers of living waters
Iya iya eh

La la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la la la la la la

Let it flow
Let it flow
Let it flow
Oh let it flow right here right now

Let it flow
Let it flow
Healing
Let it flow
Let it flow
From your Inside

Let it flow
Let it flow
Let it flow right here right now
And as the river flows
It begins to bring every dead thing to life
It's a life giving river
Oh let it flow
Right here
Right now

And as the river flows
It begins to bring every dead thing to life
It's a life giving river
Oh let it flow
Right here
Right now

Out of my belly
Shall flow rivers
Rivers of living waters
Iya iya eh

Out of my belly
Shall flow rivers
Rivers of living waters
Iya iya eh

Out of my belly
Shall flow rivers
Rivers of living waters
Iya iya eh

La la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la la la la la la

Out of my belly
Shall flow rivers
Rivers of living waters
Iya iya eh
Out of my belly
Shall flow rivers
Rivers of living waters
Iya iya eh

Meaning & Inspiration

I keep thinking about that line, out of my belly shall flow rivers of living water. It’s straight from what Jesus said in John 7, right? He stood up at the feast and promised that for anyone who believes in Him, this wouldn't just be some trickle—it would be an actual river pouring out. It makes me wonder if I really live like that, or if I’m just waiting for a drink instead of being the source. It’s strange, though. When I sing it, I feel this urgency to let it flow, like there’s something stuck inside that needs to get out to heal things.

The part about the river bringing dead things to life... that hits home, but it’s heavy. It sounds a bit like Ezekiel’s vision where the water flows from the temple and everything it touches starts to live. But am I the temple, or is He? The song makes it sound like the river is coming from inside me, and while I know the Spirit lives in us, I find myself pausing. I hope I’m not centering myself too much. It’s supposed to be His life, not mine, but sometimes the music pushes that line so hard it almost feels like I’m the one doing the healing.

It’s easy to get caught up in the melody and just want to feel something, but that idea of a river flowing—it demands that there’s actually a source. If the source is Christ in me, why does my own life feel so stagnant half the time? Maybe I’m just trying to force a flow that isn't really there, or maybe I’m missing the point of where the water actually comes from. It’s a good song to wake you up, I guess, but it leaves me wondering if I’m actually pouring out life or just singing about the possibility of it.
