Meaning & Inspiration
“Your Love” by Moses Bliss is a worship song of wonder at being loved without earning it. It mixes English, Nigerian Pidgin and Igbo. The opening verse says in Pidgin that the singer does not know what he did to deserve such love, since he is not perfect, yet he is loved constantly. It adds that grace and mercy do not fail.
The chorus is a plain confession: this love is all he wants, and this grace is his warm embrace. The second verse says the mercies are new every day and that God stays the same whatever the singer does. It ends on the thought that nothing could ever separate the singer from that love.
The Igbo lines “Ifunanya gi kachanma” mean roughly that Your love is better, and the closing line repeats that everywhere he looks he sees that love. The words are close to Romans 8:38-39, Lamentations 3:22-23 and Ephesians 2:8, which speak of inseparable love, fresh mercies and grace as a gift.
