Meaning & Inspiration
Kidum's Swahili song, whose title means "all the space in my heart," tells of a long search for something that could satisfy the soul. The singer travels east, south, west and north and finds nothing that fills the heart until all efforts fail and he loses hope.
The turn comes when the Lord arrives and touches him, so that he stands up and begins to walk. From there the chorus declares that every place in the heart now belongs to Jesus, who is named number one, and the verse ends in thanks to the Saviour.
The story echoes Matthew 11:28, where Jesus invites the weary to come to Him, and Psalm 63:1, where the soul thirsts for God. It suits a service of surrender and personal testimony.
