Lyrics
Verse 1
Hauna mpinzani, usiye na kifani
Matendo yako ni dhahiri, hautawaliwi
Unabariki upendavyo, tena walaani utakavyo
Ni nani asimame mbele yako wee
Ni nani aseme baada yako wee
Chorus
Wewe ni Mungu
Uhimidiwe, uhimidiwe
Uhimidiwe wewe ni Mungu
Uhimidiwe, uhimidiwe
Uhimidiwe wewe ni Mungu
Wewe ni Mungu
Verse 2
Unapanguza machozi ya miaka mingi
Kwa siku moja tu wewe ni Mungu
Unakomesha kejeli
Kwa miujiza ya moto tu
Ni lipi likubabaishe
Chorus (Repeat x4)

Meaning & Inspiration
"Uhimidiwe" ("You Are Praised") opens with a series of declarations about God's uniqueness, having no rival and no equal, acting entirely by his own will rather than being ruled by any outside force. That opening insists no one can stand before God or speak after him, language emphasizing God's supreme, unanswerable authority.
Its repeated chorus reduces that extended declaration to a single title, calling God worthy of praise simply because he is God, a statement treated as sufficient reason in itself. A later verse names specific evidence for that praise, wiping away years of tears in a single day and silencing mockery through miraculous acts described as fire.
Sung in Swahili within African congregational worship, the song functions as an extended declaration of God's incomparable nature, its brief, repeated chorus allowing corporate affirmation of a claim too large for extended explanation.
