Meaning & Inspiration
Wanitosha is a Swahili worship song that says God is enough. The title and opening line mean "Lord, You are enough for me," repeated many times before the verse. The first verse says that He is the one the singer desires, that no place is like His, and that the singer is satisfied. The call-and-response lines add that being satisfied is complete.
The next section marvels at why God loves so much, why He does not leave even when the singer fails, why He is not disgusted, and why He answers whenever He is called. The second verse speaks as His child who may have nowhere else to go, asking for one thing and believing the heart will heal. The themes follow 2 Corinthians 12:9 on sufficient grace, Psalm 73:25 on desiring God above all, and Psalm 23:1. The repeated words and gentle response make the song simple for a choir or congregation to join.
