Lyrics
Verse 1
What I thought was impossible
Where I felt was unattainable
Far beyond my expectations You did
What I thought was unhealable
And I felt was unfixable
Far beyond my expectations You did
Verse 2
What I thought was unreachable
And I just couldn’t see the how
But something happened
Far beyond my wildest expectations you did it, you did it you did it
What I thought was unreachable
and I just couldn’t see the how
Far beyond
But far beyond far beyond my expectations you did you did you did
Chorus
Now I can sing
Of what you’ve done
It is so marvellous in our sight
Far beyond our expectations You did !

Meaning & Inspiration
“Far Beyond” by Victoria Orenze is a Nigerian worship song of testimony about God doing more than expected. The first verse lists things the singer thought were impossible, unattainable, unhealable, and unfixable, and repeats that God did them “far beyond my expectations.”
The second verse adds what seemed unreachable, when she could not see how it could happen. Then something happened, and God did it, the repeated words “you did it” giving the section a celebratory tone. This is close to Ephesians 3:20, which says God is able to do far more than we ask or think, and Luke 1:37 about nothing being impossible.
The chorus turns to singing of what God has done, calling it “marvellous in our sight,” a phrase close to Psalm 118:23. The song is brief and built on repetition, centered on thanks for answered prayer.
