“I Get Backing” builds its message around the repeated statement that the singer does not walk alone. The Yoruba opening warns that anyone who confronts or plots against her must answer to her Father. The following lines explain that confidence by naming God the Father, the Son, the Spirit, and a host of angels. The song presents protection as companionship: divine help is already present while she walks.
