Lyrics

Verse 1

When the days don't go as planned
And I don't know what to do
I remember who has kept me
And I know he'll see me through
When the worries start to gather
And I cannot find my peace
I turn my heart toward Jesus
And my troubled thoughts grow still

Chorus

Jesus is my rock
Jesus is my strength
When I feel I can't go on
He gives me strength again
I will trust him every day
I will stand upon his word
Jesus is my rock
My savior and my Lord

Verse 2

There are days I feel I'm weary
And my faith feels small and weak
But I know the Lord is with me
And his grace is what I need
So I'll keep my eyes on Jesus
And I'll trust him day by day
He has never failed to help me
And he'll never turn away

Chorus

Jesus is my rock
Jesus is my strength
When I feel I can't go on
He gives me strength again
I will trust him every day
I will stand upon his word
Jesus is my rock
My savior and my Lord

Bridge

I don't need to know tomorrow
I don't need to understand
I just need to keep on trusting
In my savior's loving hand

Chorus

Jesus is my rock
Jesus is my strength
When I feel I can't go on
He gives me strength again
I will trust him every day
I will stand upon his word
Jesus is my rock
My savior and my Lord

Outro

Jesus is my rock
Jesus is my strength
I will trust him every day
He will see me through

Meaning & Inspiration

Jesus Is My Rock is a simple song of trust in Christ as strength and refuge. The first verse speaks of days that do not go as planned and not knowing what to do, remembering who has kept the singer, and turning the heart to Jesus until troubled thoughts are still. The chorus declares that Jesus is rock, strength, savior and Lord, trusted every day and stood upon in His word.

The second verse admits weariness and a small faith but says the Lord is with the singer, and that He has never failed to help, while the bridge says there is no need to know tomorrow, only to keep trusting in His hand. The rock image comes from Psalm 18:2 and Psalm 62:6-7, the trusting from Proverbs 3:5-6, Isaiah 26:3 and Matthew 7:24-25. Plain, repeated and steady, it fits quiet worship.
