Meaning & Inspiration

Come Near To Me Lord is a prayer for God's nearness and rest. The first verse thanks Him for a solemn and peaceful place to rest, lays burdens down and seeks His face, and the pre-chorus trusts in His faithfulness and a love that never changes. The chorus asks Him to come near, says the singer longs for His presence, asks to be taught His lessons, and gives praise to His holy name.

The second verse calls on the Lord, who answers and restores the heart and shows the perfect way when the singer does not know where to start, and the second pre-chorus speaks of a healing hand and sins washed away. The themes fit James 4:8 on drawing near to God, Psalm 27:8 on seeking His face, Psalm 23:3 on restored soul, and Psalm 25:4-5 on being taught His ways. The repeated tag and quiet pace suit a time of reflective worship.
