About Phil Wickham
Phil Wickham is a contemporary Christian singer-songwriter and worship leader whose music has become a fixture in modern church worship. He was born Philip David Wickham on April 5, 1984, in San Diego, California, to John and Lisa Wickham, both of whom served as worship leaders. At age thirteen, he began leading worship for his youth group at Maranatha Chapel. He graduated from Calvary Christian School in Vista, California, in 2002 and released his debut independent album, Give You My World, the following year.
Over the course of his career, Wickham has released fourteen worship albums. His catalog includes the albums Cannons, Living Hope, Hymn of Heaven, and I Believe, as well as the singles “This Is Amazing Grace,” “House of the Lord,” “Battle Belongs,” and “What an Awesome God.” His 2016 album Children of God was shaped in part by his experience undergoing vocal cord surgery. Wickham married Mallory Plotnik in 2008.
Several of his songs have received significant recognition. “This Is Amazing Grace” is certified Platinum by the RIAA, and “Living Hope” is certified Gold. The album I Believe reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. At the GMA Dove Awards, Hymn of Heaven won Worship Album of the Year in 2022, and its title track won Worship Recorded Song of the Year in the same year. In 2024, “Holy Forever” won the GMA Dove Award for Song of the Year.
