Meaning & Inspiration
Holy Spirit is a prayer that welcomes the presence of God. The verses say nothing is worth more or comes close to His presence, that He is the living hope, that the singer has tasted and seen the sweetest of loves, and that the heart becomes free and shame is undone. The chorus welcomes the Holy Spirit, asking Him to flood the place and fill the atmosphere, since the heart longs for His glory.
The bridge asks to be more aware of His presence and to experience the glory of His goodness. The themes fit Psalm 34:8 on tasting and seeing, Psalm 16:11 on joy in His presence, John 14:16-17 and Acts 2:1-4 on the Holy Spirit, and Exodus 33:18-19 where God shows His goodness and glory. Soft and repetitive, it works well as a time of quiet waiting.
