Meaning & Inspiration
“Yesu Mo” by Joe Mettle is a Ghanaian worship song of thanks, with “Mo mo mo Yesu Christo mo” as a repeated cry of praise to Jesus. The opening verse gives thanks for everything the Lord has done, naming His goodness, kindness, faithfulness, and love, and says that even when the singer falls, God picks him up and his mercies are ever new.
The middle of the song becomes a testimony. The singer recalls that men rejected him, looked down on him, and said he would not make it. The answer is that the one who lives in him is greater than he that is in the world, a line from 1 John 4:4, followed by the promise that God will never leave or forsake him, close to Hebrews 13:5.
The ending returns to repeated praise for all God has done and all He will do. The message is gratitude and confidence in God’s care.
