Meaning & Inspiration

I sat there for a minute just repeating those words under my breath, "Yahweh ni Mungu." It’s so simple that it almost feels heavy. When I think about that name—Yahweh—I keep going back to when Moses asked God who he should say sent him. God didn't give a title or a job description; He just said, "I AM." It feels like Isaac Kahura is grabbing onto that same raw identity. There isn’t any fluff here, just the stubborn claim that this specific Name is God. It pulls me back to the way the prophets would confront the idols of their day, just stripping everything away until only the Creator is left standing.

It makes me wonder if I really treat Him as Yahweh in the middle of my own messy week, or if I just keep Him tucked away in a box of "good ideas." If He truly is the "I AM," then the songs we sing ought to feel a lot more dangerous than they usually do. There’s a line in the Old Testament, in 1 Kings, where the people finally fall on their faces and cry out, "The Lord, he is God." That’s all this song is doing. It isn’t trying to be clever or poetic, which is kind of relieving, honestly. But then I get a little stuck. Is it enough to just acknowledge His name? I know even the demons believe and shudder, so the song leaves me wrestling with whether I’m just stating a fact or actually yielding my life to the One who defines reality itself. It’s strange how such a short phrase can make me feel like I’m standing on solid ground, while simultaneously making me feel like I’m totally out of my depth.
